US Federal Criminal Defense Attorney — Consultation re: DOJ Inquiry

I have a client, a cryptocurrency exchange, that has received a formal request from the US Department of Justice. We are seeking a US-licensed criminal defense attorney for a paid initial consultation to assess the matter and advise on next steps. Scope of the consultation (fixed price): Review the DOJ request and relevant background materials (shared under NDA after a conflicts check) Assess the nature and seriousness of the inquiry and our potential exposure Advise on immediate steps: response strategy, deadlines, document preservation obligations Recommend a path forward, including whether ongoing representation is needed We would need your written assessment and recommendations. If the consultation goes well, we expect to discuss ongoing representation for the matter as a separate engagement. Required qualifications: Licensed to practice in the US; admitted to at least one federal district court Significant experience in white-collar criminal defense and responding to federal investigations (DOJ, US Attorney's Offices) Direct experience handling grand jury subpoenas, DOJ information requests, or similar federal inquiries Able to run a conflicts check and sign an NDA before receiving case details Strongly preferred: Experience with cryptocurrency, fintech, or money-services businesses (BSA/AML, FinCEN, money transmission issues) Former federal prosecutor (AUSA/DOJ) background Experience representing foreign or offshore companies in US matters To apply, please include: Your bar admissions (states and federal courts) A brief summary of your DOJ/federal investigation experience (no confidential details) Whether you have crypto/fintech-related matter experience Your availability this week for an initial call Your proposed fixed fee for the consultation as described, and your hourly rate for any follow-on work
