Project Overview We are seeking an experienced captioning specialist with expertise in theatrical film captioning, SMPTE Timed Text XML, and festival delivery requirements. We have a feature film that requires caption deliverables for theatrical DCP mastering and festival screenings. Required Deliverables The selected freelancer must provide: SRT Caption File Accurate, professionally proofread captions Suitable for Vimeo and online screener use SMPTE Timed Text XML File Festival-compliant timed text XML Compatible with theatrical DCP closed-caption workflows Proper formatting and validation required WebVTT Caption File Timecode starting at 00:00:00:00 Compatible with festival screening requirements Positional information included where necessary Open Caption (OCAP) Caption Package Burn-in-ready subtitle files SRT version SMPTE Timed Text XML version Proper positioning to avoid conflicts with lower-thirds, on-screen graphics, and existing burned-in subtitles Important Requirements Experience creating captions for theatrical release and film festivals. Familiarity with Sundance and other festival accessibility specifications. Ability to handle caption offsets if an opening logo or animation is added before the program start. Knowledge of caption positioning and collision avoidance. Understanding of SMPTE Timed Text / TTML standards and DCP caption workflows.
