Worldwide
I'm looking for an experienced fiction editor to become a long-term part of my publishing team. I write and publish Sports Romance fiction and need someone who can provide honest, constructive feedback on both plot outlines and completed manuscripts. I'm looking for an editor who isn't afraid to point out weaknesses and explain how they can be improved. What I'll Need Depending on the project, I may ask you to: Review plot outlines for pacing, structure, character arcs, plot holes, and reader engagement. Perform developmental edits on completed manuscripts. Copy edit and proofread manuscripts in Microsoft Word using Track Changes. Follow the Chicago Manual of Style (CMOS). Communicate clearly and meet agreed-upon deadlines. I'm hoping to build an ongoing working relationship with someone reliable who enjoys collaborating with authors over multiple books. Ideal Experience You should have: Experience editing Contemporary Romance/ Sport Romance novels. Strong knowledge of story structure, pacing, and character development. Professional copy editing and proofreading experience. Excellent written English. Experience working in Microsoft Word with Track Changes. Familiarity with CMOS. Initial Project The first project will be: Review of a plot outline If we're a good fit, there will be consistent work available. To Apply Please begin your proposal with the phrase: 'LA LIGA' Then include: A brief overview of your editing experience. Which fiction genres you specialize in. Your typical turnaround time. Your experience using CMOS and Track Changes. Your education or relevant professional background. A sample of a developmental edit, manuscript edit, or outline review (redacted if necessary). Please Answer These Questions How do you identify plot holes or structural weaknesses in a story? What tells you that a manuscript is well written versus average? What's your editing process from start to finish? Have you worked with indie authors before? If so, please describe your experience. What types of fiction do you personally enjoy reading? I'm looking for someone who's responsive, detail-oriented, and interested in building a long-term working relationship. If that sounds like you, I'd love to hear from you.
