Financial Accountant / Management Accountant (Remote — Melbourne Hours) Company: ATOM Modular Group (incl. ATOM Modular Group is a fast-growing Australian manufacturing business creating functional spaces for hard-working people. We're hiring a Finance Manager / Financial Controller with strong construction/manufacturing experience and proven capability in tracking project costs end-to-end across multiple entities (ATOM + RhinoSite + RAPTA). What you'll do Monthly close & reporting - Run monthly close and consolidated reporting across group entities (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow), including variance analysis and clear commentary. Construction/manufacturing cost control - Build and maintain project cost tracking (budget vs actual) including labour, materials, subcontractors, overhead allocation, WIP and margin tracking. - Partner with Ops/Production to improve job costing accuracy, identify leakage, and lift gross margin through better visibility. Payables management - Own and manage accounts payable end-to-end, ensuring timely and accurate processing of supplier invoices, payments, and reconciliations. Debtors & invoicing management - Manage accounts receivable, including customer invoicing, collections, and debtor reconciliations to maintain healthy cash flow. Depreciation & fixed assets - Maintain the fixed asset register, calculate and post depreciation entries accurately across all entities. Inventory management - Oversee inventory accounting, including stock reconciliations and ensuring accurate valuation in line with manufacturing operations. Compliance & governance (AU) - Manage Australian compliance items and calendars (BAS/GST, PAYG/IAS, payroll tax, super) with external accountant/tax agent support as needed. Cashflow & working capital - Improve cashflow visibility and working capital discipline (AR/AP, approvals, forecasting). Process improvement & controls - Build and document SOPs, strengthen internal controls, improve month-end routines and approvals. Team leadership (remote) - Lead/coordinate transactional processing and weekly deliverables with a clear remote team rhythm. Commercial support - Support budgets, forecasting and scenario modelling; highlight margin improvement opportunities. First 4 weeks (what success looks like) Week 1: Review Balance Sheet & P&L with analytics; begin SOP manuals. Week 2: Execute finance catch-up; review next month's Balance Sheet & P&L with analytics. Week 3: Complete/verify month completion; continue SOP documentation. Week 4: Implement KPI dashboard, reporting & tax compliance calendar, weekly performance monitoring + issue log. Must-have experience - Proven Finance Manager / Financial Controller / Senior Accountant experience (remote experience preferred) - CPA/CA qualification (or equivalent) — required - Construction and/or manufacturing background with strong job/project costing capability (budget vs actual, WIP, margin tracking) - Strong knowledge of Australian compliance (month-end close, BAS/GST, PAYG/IAS, payroll processes) - Experience with multi-entity reporting/consolidation - Hands-on experience with Odoo (Accounting/Finance modules) — required; ideally job costing, multi-entity consolidation and reporting within Odoo - Proven experience in payables management, debtors/invoicing management, depreciation, and inventory management - Australian construction/building industry background with solid understanding of the local market and compliance environment - Able to work 9:00am–5:00pm Melbourne time (AEST/AEDT), Monday–Friday - Excellent English communication and ability to explain numbers to non-finance leaders Beyond the qualification, we weight demonstrated hands-on, practical capability built through real-world experience. Nice to have - Experience implementing or optimising Odoo for construction/manufacturing workflows (project costing, WIP, progress claims) - Experience with progress claims, retentions, variations, and project-based revenue recognition - Dashboard/KPI reporting experience (Power BI / Excel models) - Familiarity with AI tools to improve finance workflows and reporting As part of your application - Please include examples of your work, such as financial models and analytical/reporting samples (de-identified where necessary).
