Finance & Operations Specialist (Part-Time | E-commerce)

We're looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Finance & Operations Specialist to support a growing e-commerce business. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys maintaining accurate financial records while helping founders understand the numbers behind their business. This is more than basic bookkeeping. We're looking for someone who can keep our financials organized, provide meaningful monthly insights, and serve as a trusted resource for financial decision-making as the business continues to grow. Responsibilities: -Bookkeeping & Financial Management -Maintain accurate books in QuickBooks Online. -Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and other financial accounts. -Categorize transactions accurately. -Maintain organized financial records. -Prepare month-end financial reports. -Coordinate with our CPA as needed during tax season. -Financial Reporting & Business Insights -Prepare monthly Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow reports. -Explain monthly financial performance in clear, easy-to-understand terms. -Identify trends in revenue, expenses, and profitability. -Help monitor business cash flow. -Provide recommendations that support informed financial decisions. -E-commerce Operations -Reconcile Shopify sales with QuickBooks. -Track inventory costs and cost of goods sold (COGS). -Monitor business expenses and identify opportunities for improvement. -Assist with budgeting and financial planning as the business grows. Qualifications Required: -Experience with QuickBooks Online. -Strong bookkeeping and accounting knowledge. -Experience supporting small businesses or e-commerce brands. -Excellent attention to detail and organization. -Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills. -Ability to explain financial information in simple, non-technical language. Preferred: -Experience with Shopify. -Experience working with inventory-based businesses. -Experience supporting founder-led or small businesses. -Comfortable making recommendations based on financial data. Position Details: -Remote -Part-Time -Independent Contractor (1099) -Monthly retainer -Expected workload of approximately 10–15 hours per month -Initial 90-day trial period with the intention of establishing a long-term working relationship What Success Looks Like: The right person will help ensure our books are always organized and accurate while giving leadership confidence in the financial health of the business. Each month, you'll provide: -Clean and up-to-date financial records. -Monthly financial statements. -A brief summary of business performance. -Actionable insights and recommendations based on the numbers. -Guidance that helps support financial decisions as the business grows.
