Fine Jewellery Designer — Collections & Custom Pieces (Design + Production CAD)

We're a fine jewellery brand in Australia working with lab-grown diamonds and coloured gemstones in solid precious metal. We're already selling custom commissions and are now developing our own collections. We're looking for a designer to work with us on an ongoing basis - both original collection design and one-off custom pieces. THE WORK Design - Original design concepts and sketches for collections of 8-12 coherent pieces - Custom piece design developed from a client brief - Rings, necklaces, earrings and bracelets - Pieces range from simple and restrained to bold and sculptural Technical - Production-ready CAD (Rhino, MatrixGold or equivalent) - Technical drawings with full dimensions - Stone specifications and setting details - Metal weight estimates - Renders suitable for presenting to clients - Files our manufacturers can work from directly ESSENTIAL - A portfolio in fine jewellery — precious metal and real stones, not costume or fashion jewellery - Collection design experience, not only one-off commissions - Production CAD experience where your files have actually been manufactured - Solid understanding of design for manufacture: casting constraints, wall thickness, prong geometry, stone seats - Fluency across setting types — prong, bezel, pavé, channel, flush, tension - Experience with both diamonds and coloured gemstones - Clear written English and responsive communication PREFERRED - Bench or goldsmithing experience - Natural and Lab-grown diamond experience - Experience working with Asian manufacturers - A design point of view we can see in your portfolio HOW TO APPLY 1. Show us pieces that were actually made. Photographs of the finished piece alongside your original CAD or sketch. This matters more to us than renders. 2. Show us a collection you designed. Tell us what held it together as a range. 3. Your software, your file formats, and your typical turnaround from brief to production-ready files. 4. How you prefer to be engaged and priced — per piece, hourly, or on retainer. DETAILS - Ongoing work, starting with a paid trial piece - All designs must be original and unpublished. Full IP assignment on payment. - We hire on portfolio, not location.
