Focus companion - real time support specialist
Worldwide
Note: have an English accent, not just language. Open to Europe, Australia, Canada. This also includes personal brand training to build your own social media following. What this is We help adults with ADHD do the thing they already know they want to do — at the moment they’re trying to do it. Not with advice, not with a course, but with a real person on the other end at the exact moment someone is stuck at the starting line. You are that person. When a member is staring at a task they can’t start, or has a messy tangle of thoughts they need to get out of their head, or just needs someone to quietly hold the space while they begin — you’re who shows up. Most of what you do is small, fast, and human: help someone name the one next step, capture a brain-dump so they can let it go, or simply be present for the first ninety seconds of a hard start. The magic of this job is that the small things are the whole thing. Getting up is often the entire battle. You help people get up. What you’ll actually do • Body-double live sessions — be present (audio, video, or just chat) while a member starts a task. Your presence is the intervention; you don’t have to fix anything. • Capture brain-dumps — take someone’s messy, unsorted stream of thoughts and reflect it back organized, so they can stop holding it. You’re a catcher, not a critic. • Help find the one next step — when a task feels like a wall, help shrink it to a door. “Just open the doc.” “Just put your shoes on.” • Work a shared queue — our software surfaces the one member who needs you right now. You won’t be juggling dashboards; you’ll be handed one person at a time. • Hand off cleanly — you’re part of a cohort covering 24/7. You’ll log what matters so the next companion and the member’s consistent coach stay in sync. What this job is not We want to be very clear, because it protects you and the member: • This is not therapy. You are not a counselor, and you won’t be diagnosing, treating, or doing clinical work. When something is beyond scope, your job is to recognize it and escalate — not to handle it alone. • This is not coaching or advice-giving. You’re not here to tell people how to run their lives. You hold space and reduce friction; the member owns their own decisions and priorities, always. • You are never the enforcer. The system handles anything that feels like nagging, blocking, or “you didn’t do it.” Your interactions are the relief, never the pressure. That’s a rule, not a preference. Who thrives here • You’re calm and steady, especially when someone else isn’t. • You can be warm without being pushy, and present without needing to be the center of attention. • You genuinely don’t judge people for struggling with things that look easy from the outside. (If you’ve lived this yourself — ADHD, or loving someone with it — that’s an asset, not a requirement.) • You’re reliable about your shifts. People are counting on someone being there; coverage is the promise. • You can hold a light structure and let go of your own agenda. The member’s direction wins. • You’re comfortable with the emotional texture of the work: shame, avoidance, and stuck-ness are what you’ll meet most, and you meet them without flinching or fixing. Nice to have • Experience in peer support, care work, coaching-adjacent roles, tutoring, crisis-line volunteering, or anything where being present for someone was the job. • Lived experience with ADHD or executive-function challenges. • Comfort with simple software tools and quick, clear written handoffs. No clinical license is required or expected for this role. We’ll train you on our method, our tools, and our escalation paths. Hours & structure We run around the clock in shifts, because being stuck doesn’t keep business hours. We’ll work with you on a consistent schedule — including some evenings, early mornings, or weekends — and you’ll always be part of a team, never alone on an island. How to apply Tell us about a time you helped someone start something they were dreading, or just sat with someone through a hard moment. We care far more about that than about a polished résumé.
