Footage-Driven Narrative Writer for Hockey Highlights YouTube Channel (Automation)

Hi there! I run a hockey channel and I'm looking for someone who thinks in footage first, words second. This is not a standard scriptwriting role. If you primarily work with text, this is probably not the right fit. What this actually is: You'll receive a set of video clips and a topic — for example, "most heated moments." Your job is to watch the footage, pick the most powerful moments, decide the order they land in, and write the narration that connects them into a tight, high-retention video. The clips do the heavy lifting. Your words are the glue: the quick setup, the punchline, the surprising fact, the crowd reaction. Then silence, and let the footage breathe. What I'm NOT looking for: - Narration that describes what viewers can already see on screen - Long, essay-style scripts that box in the video editor - Text written in isolation without watching the footage What great looks like: Each moment should follow a rhythm: a one-line hook or quick context → footage carries the action → a short payoff (reaction, stat, consequence). Think 25–40 words per moment, 20–25 seconds of screen time. The best reference I can give you is retention-style sports channels like [insert your top 1–2 reference channels here] — study how little they say, and how much the footage does. You're the right person if: - You've written for faceless YouTube automation channels, especially sports or highlights - You naturally think about pacing, hooks, and viewer drop-off - You watch clips before you write a single word - You've been told your scripts "feel like a video," not like an article read aloud The project: Starting with one short sample script.
