Founding Software Engineer — AI SaaS Platform

We're building an AI-powered B2B SaaS platform that helps businesses automate complex operational workflows. The product is already validated with early customers, working prototypes, and a clear roadmap. We're looking for our first engineering hire to take ownership of the platform and help shape both the product and engineering culture from the ground up. About the Role As the founding engineer, you'll work directly with the founder to transform working prototypes into a scalable production platform. You'll make key architectural decisions, establish engineering best practices, and build systems that can support thousands of organizations. This isn't a feature-factory role. You'll own major technical decisions, build core platform capabilities, and influence the direction of the company. What You'll Build Multi-tenant SaaS platform Authentication and user management Role-based access control Billing and subscription management API-first backend architecture AI-powered workflow automation Reporting and analytics Audit logs and activity tracking Infrastructure, CI/CD, monitoring, and deployment pipelines What We're Looking For 7+ years of professional software engineering experience Strong backend development experience Experience designing scalable distributed systems Comfortable owning products end-to-end Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) Strong understanding of databases, APIs, caching, and messaging systems Excellent communication skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Nice to Have Startup experience Experience as one of the first engineers AI/LLM integration experience Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform Event-driven architectures PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, or similar technologies How We Work Small, fast-moving team Direct collaboration with the founder Daily communication Weekly milestones Written specifications and acceptance criteria Strong ownership and accountability Shipping working software over unnecessary process We're looking for engineers who enjoy solving difficult technical problems and building products that customers use every day.
