A U.S.-based fractional HR consulting firm is seeking an experienced fractional Business Development Representative to generate qualified sales opportunities. This is a highly fractional, performance-focused independent contractor position. The selected representative will identify prospects, conduct outbound outreach, qualify opportunities, schedule discovery calls and maintain an organized sales pipeline. This is not a lead-list-building-only position. We need someone who can communicate professionally with business owners and executives and understands consultative selling. About the Firm We provide fractional HR leadership and human capital advisory services to growing companies with approximately 10 to 250 employees. Our clients may have no internal HR leader, an overwhelmed HR function or a need for experienced strategic support. Our services include: * Fractional HR leadership * Human capital assessments * HR compliance and risk reviews * Employee relations and workplace investigations * Manager development * Compensation and workforce planning * HR infrastructure development * Employee handbooks and policy development * Human capital due diligence * Project-based HR implementation Responsibilities * Identify U.S. companies that match our ideal client profile * Research founders, CEOs, CFOs, COOs and other decision-makers * Build accurate prospect lists with verified contact information * Conduct outreach through telephone, email and LinkedIn * Clearly communicate the firm’s services and value * Identify potential HR, compliance, management and workforce needs * Qualify prospects before scheduling discovery calls * Schedule qualified 30-minute meetings * Conduct consistent follow-up with interested prospects * Maintain accurate CRM and pipeline records * Provide weekly activity and pipeline reports * Support proposal follow-up and opportunity nurturing * Protect the firm’s brand and professional reputation Required Qualifications * At least three years of B2B sales or business-development experience * Experience selling to U.S. business owners and executives * Strong spoken and written English * Experience with outbound calling, email and LinkedIn outreach * Experience selling consulting or other professional services * Ability to identify and qualify genuine business needs * Strong follow-up and relationship-building skills * Experience using CRM and lead-generation platforms * Ability to work independently * Willingness to follow approved messaging and outreach procedures Preferred Experience Preference will be given to candidates who have sold: * HR consulting services * Fractional executive services * PEO or payroll services * Employee benefits * Staffing or recruiting services * Employment-law services * Accounting or fractional CFO services * Business consulting or other professional advisory services The ideal candidate should understand common HR business concerns, including wage-and-hour compliance, employee classification, manager performance, employee relations, employee handbooks, multi-state employment and organizational growth. The representative will identify potential needs but will not provide HR or legal advice. Ideal Client Profile * U.S.-based company * Approximately 10 to 250 employees * Founder-led or privately owned * No experienced internal HR leader or a limited HR team * Experiencing growth, compliance concerns, management challenges or organizational change * Decision-maker is generally the founder, CEO, CFO or COO Work Arrangement * Independent contractor * Highly fractional and project-based * Initial 30-day pilot * Weekly workload may vary * Potential for an ongoing relationship * Performance-focused compensation * Applicants should propose their most competitive sustainable base rate * Additional compensation may be available for qualified attended meetings and collected client revenue * Some availability during U.S. Eastern Time business hours is required Qualified Meeting Standard A qualified meeting must: * Be with an authorized decision-maker * Involve a U.S.-based company with approximately 10 to 250 employees * Include an identified HR, workforce, compliance or organizational need * Be accepted by the prospect as a genuine HR advisory conversation * Be scheduled on the firm’s calendar * Be attended by the prospect Duplicate contacts, existing relationships, unqualified prospects and no-show appointments will not qualify for performance compensation.
