Summary

We are an international education and global talent group seeking a highly reliable, organised and commercially aware Social Media & Digital Community Coordinator to manage the day-to-day operation of our social media presence across several related brands. This position will begin as a fractional, ongoing engagement, but there is genuine potential for it to develop into a substantially larger or full-time role for the right person as the Group continues to grow. This is not primarily a graphic-design role. We will be working separately with a social media content creator/designer who will assist with producing graphics, social media assets and content. We need someone who can take ownership of the social media operation itself — ensuring that content is organised, scheduled, published, monitored and used effectively to support our recruitment, education and B2B activities. About the Group Our businesses operate across international education, recruitment, global talent, professional training and education consulting. Our audiences include: Candidates seeking international employment opportunities Teachers and education professionals Students and programme participants Schools and educational institutions Employers HR and recruitment companies B2B talent partners Universities and other institutional partners Our activities currently span markets including the Caribbean, United States, United Kingdom, GCC/Middle East and Asia. Because our brands serve different audiences, we need someone who understands that social media cannot simply consist of posting the same generic content everywhere. The Role The Social Media & Digital Community Coordinator will work directly with the Group Founder and coordinate closely with our external social media content creator/designer. Your responsibility will be to help ensure that our social channels operate consistently, professionally and strategically. 1. Social Media Calendar & Coordination You will help manage the social media calendar across multiple brands. Responsibilities will include: Maintaining an organised content calendar. Ensuring each brand has the correct content scheduled. Coordinating with our content creator/designer regarding required content. Communicating upcoming content requirements and priorities. Checking that agreed content has been delivered. Ensuring campaigns, announcements and time-sensitive content are published when required. Helping prevent gaps, duplication or inconsistent posting. You should be comfortable managing several brands without confusing their audiences, tone or commercial objectives. 2. Content Publishing & Scheduling You will be responsible for preparing and scheduling approved content across relevant social media platforms. This may include platforms such as: Facebook Instagram LinkedIn TikTok YouTube Other relevant channels as our social media strategy develops Responsibilities may include: Scheduling posts. Publishing content. Checking formatting before publication. Ensuring captions, hashtags, links and calls to action are correct. Adapting minor wording where necessary for different platforms. Checking published posts for errors. Maintaining consistency in posting. We do not expect you to personally design every graphic or create every piece of original content. A separate content creator/designer will support this function. 3. Community Management You will help monitor our social media communities and ensure enquiries are noticed and appropriately handled. This will include: Monitoring comments and messages. Responding to straightforward enquiries using approved guidance. Identifying questions requiring escalation. Flagging complaints or sensitive communications. Monitoring mentions and engagement. Helping ensure potential candidates receive appropriate direction. Helping ensure potentially valuable B2B enquiries are identified quickly. Good judgement is extremely important. For example, you should be able to recognise the difference between: A candidate asking how to apply for an international opportunity A general social media question A complaint requiring escalation An employer or HR consultancy asking about a potential recruitment partnership A significant B2B enquiry should never sit unanswered in an inbox because it was treated as an ordinary social-media comment. 4. Social Media Lead Awareness Our social media and digital advertising generate both B2C/candidate enquiries and B2B business enquiries. You will therefore need to develop an understanding of our different lead types and know when something should be escalated. You will not be responsible for closing B2B sales. However, you should be able to identify a potentially important commercial enquiry and ensure the appropriate person within the Group is made aware of it promptly. 5. Content Creator Coordination A major part of this role will eventually be reducing the amount of day-to-day social media coordination that currently sits with the Founder. You may therefore work directly with our content creator/designer to communicate requirements such as: Upcoming campaigns Required posts Content priorities Platform requirements Brand-specific messaging Deadlines Revisions Reusable content opportunities The objective is to create an organised workflow in which: Strategy → Content Planning → Content Production → Review → Scheduling → Publishing → Engagement → Performance Review operates consistently without the Founder having to personally manage every step. 6. Basic Performance Monitoring You should be comfortable reviewing basic social media performance data. We are not looking for unnecessarily complicated reports. We want useful observations. For example: Which posts are performing particularly well? Which topics are generating candidate enquiries? Which content is attracting B2B engagement? Which platforms are producing the strongest response? What questions are followers repeatedly asking? What content should we produce more frequently? What appears not to be working? You may be asked to provide a short periodic summary of performance, observations and recommendations. Who We Are Looking For We are particularly interested in someone who has experience as a: Social Media Coordinator Social Media Manager Digital Marketing Coordinator Community Manager Marketing Coordinator Content & Community Coordinator Digital Communications Coordinator You should have: Previous hands-on experience managing business social media accounts. Excellent written English. Strong organisational ability. Excellent attention to detail. Experience scheduling and publishing social media content. Experience monitoring comments and direct messages. Strong professional judgement. The ability to distinguish between routine enquiries and important leads. Experience working with content calendars. Experience coordinating with designers, content creators or marketing teams. Confidence working independently. Strong communication skills. A reliable internet connection. The ability to meet agreed deadlines without constant reminders. An interest in developing a longer-term relationship with a growing organisation. Experience with some of the following would be helpful: Meta Business Suite Facebook Instagram LinkedIn TikTok YouTube Canva Social media scheduling platforms Google Workspace Trello, Asana, Monday.com or similar project-management tools CRM systems Basic social media analytics Experience within education, recruitment, HR, international business or professional services would be useful but is not essential. Reliability Is Extremely Important We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their responsibilities. This means: Attending scheduled meetings on time. Meeting agreed deadlines. Communicating in advance if there is a genuine problem. Following instructions carefully. Checking work before publication. Not requiring repeated follow-up for routine responsibilities. Maintaining regular and dependable communication. If you regularly take on more freelance work than you can realistically manage, this will probably not be the right engagement for you. We would rather work with someone managing a sensible workload who is consistently dependable. What This Role Is NOT This is not primarily a: Graphic designer position Video editor position General virtual assistant position Data-entry position Lead-generation position Cold-calling position Paid advertising/media-buying position You may occasionally assist with minor related activities, but those are not the core purpose of the role. Your primary responsibility is to help manage and operate our social media ecosystem effectively. Nature of the Engagement This will begin as a small fractional independent-contractor engagement. The workload may vary according to campaigns, recruitment activity and business requirements. We are deliberately starting the position on a fractional basis while we develop our social media systems and workflow. However, this is a role with real growth potential. For the right person, we would like the position to develop over time into greater responsibility for social media and digital communications across the Group and potentially into a full-time role. We are therefore particularly interested in someone who wants to grow with an organisation rather than simply complete occasional one-off tasks. Applicants are welcome to propose the working arrangement they believe would be appropriate for an ongoing fractional engagement of this nature. Application Questions Please answer all of the following questions when submitting your proposal. 1. Social Media Experience How many years of professional social media management or coordination experience do you have? Which social media platforms have you personally managed for businesses or organisations? 2. Multiple Brands Have you ever managed social media for several brands, business units or client accounts simultaneously? If yes, briefly explain how you kept the different brands, audiences and content calendars organised. 3. Community Management Please describe your experience managing comments, direct messages and social media enquiries. How would you decide which communications you can answer yourself and which should be escalated? 4. B2B Lead Scenario You are checking Instagram messages and receive the following: "Hello. We operate several hotels in the UAE and are interested in learning more about the international hospitality candidates your organisation represents. Who can we speak with?" What would you do next? 5. Candidate Scenario You receive this Facebook message: "Hi, I saw your advert about teaching overseas. I'm a US-certified teacher with seven years' experience. How can I apply?" How would you handle this enquiry? 6. Content Coordination Imagine that you are managing social media for several brands and working with a separate graphic designer/content creator. How would you organise the workflow to make sure content is created, approved and published on time? 7. Reliability This role requires consistent communication and dependable completion of scheduled work. Please describe how you currently organise your freelance workload to ensure deadlines and recurring responsibilities are not missed. 8. Availability What is your general weekly availability? Please include your: Country/location Time zone Typical working days General availability for online meetings 9. Growth This position will begin fractionally but could potentially develop into a substantially larger or full-time role. Would that type of longer-term opportunity interest you? Please briefly explain what you would ideally like your role to develop into. 10. Proposed Arrangement Please indicate the type of working arrangement you would propose for an initial small, ongoing fractional engagement. Shortlisting Process Shortlisted applicants will be invited to a brief video interview through Upwork. As part of the selection process, we may also provide a small practical exercise involving a sample social media calendar, community-management scenario or content-coordination task. We are not looking for the person who can simply produce the largest volume of posts. We are looking for someone who can become a dependable member of our wider team, take ownership of the social media function and grow with the organisation. Generic proposals that do not answer the application questions are unlikely to be shortlisted. If you are organised, commercially aware, highly dependable and interested in helping build the social media operation of a growing international education and global talent group, we would be pleased to hear from you.
