FreeCAD / CAD Designer Needed to Help Design Custom Branding Machine

We’re looking for an experienced FreeCAD / CAD designer to help us develop a custom branding machine for an internal manufacturing project. We are not engineers, so we need someone who can do more than simply draw what we describe. We need a CAD designer who can help think through the mechanical design, tolerances, fitment, revisions, manufacturability, and the details we may not know to ask about. The goal is to create a complete CAD model of the machine that can be reviewed, revised, and eventually used for fabrication/manufacturing. -Project Overview We are developing a custom machine used for branding/marking products. We need help turning our concept, rough sketches, reference images, and requirements into a detailed CAD design. The designer will be responsible for creating the machine in CAD, refining the design through multiple rounds of feedback, and helping make sure the design is realistic, functional, and buildable. -Responsibilities The ideal freelancer will be able to: Create a full CAD model of the branding machine Work from rough concepts, sketches, photos, and written explanations Help us identify design issues before fabrication Recommend improvements to structure, motion, alignment, mounting, spacing, and general usability Account for tolerances, clearances, hardware, fasteners, and manufacturing limitations Make revisions as the project evolves Provide files in usable formats for review and manufacturing Communicate clearly with non-engineers and explain technical decisions in plain English -Required Skills Strong experience with FreeCAD, AutoCAD, Fusion 360, SolidWorks, or similar CAD software Mechanical design experience Experience designing machines, fixtures, jigs, presses, or manufacturing equipment Understanding of tolerances, materials, fasteners, and real-world assembly Ability to design for fabrication, machining, laser cutting, or other manufacturing processes Strong communication skills Willingness to collaborate and help guide the design, not just follow instructions -Nice to Have Experience with heated branding, stamping, pressing, or marking equipment Experience designing shop/manufacturing tools Experience creating fabrication-ready drawings Experience with BOMs, hardware selection, or sourcing components -Deliverables: Complete 3D CAD model of the machine Editable source files 2D drawings where needed Manufacturing/fabrication-ready files Assembly views or exploded views if helpful Bill of materials if applicable Revisions based on feedback -We can provide: Project goals and use case Rough sketches or layout ideas Photos/videos of similar machines or components Dimensions and constraints Feedback throughout the process The ideal person is a practical mechanical designer who understands how things are actually built. We need someone who can help us turn an idea into a functional design and catch the things we may miss as non-engineers. This project may involve several rounds of revisions, so we’re looking for someone who is collaborative, patient, and detail-oriented.
