Freelance Book Designer & Print Formatting Specialist

We are looking for a skilled **book designer and print formatting specialist** to help us create professionally designed, publication-ready books and booklets. The right person understands both the technical side of book production and the visual details that make a book feel polished, credible, and beautiful. ### Responsibilities * Create professional interior layouts and typesetting for print books * Format files according to **Amazon KDP, Lulu, and IngramSpark** specifications * Prepare print-ready PDF files with correct margins, bleeds, trim sizes, gutters, fonts, and image resolution * Design or refine attractive book covers * Create full-wrap covers, including front cover, spine, and back cover * Make revisions based on editorial and client feedback * Review files for formatting issues before publication * Maintain consistent visual standards across multiple book projects ### Qualifications * Proven experience with book layout, typesetting, and print production * Strong knowledge of KDP, Lulu, and IngramSpark formatting requirements * Experience using Adobe InDesign, Affinity Publisher, or comparable professional software * A strong eye for typography, spacing, hierarchy, and overall visual presentation * Experience designing professional, market-ready book covers * Ability to work from existing templates while also improving the design when necessary * Careful attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines * Clear communication and responsiveness ### Preferred Experience * Experience with memoirs, business books, or nonfiction * Experience preparing both paperback and hardcover files * Ability to create ebook files * Familiarity with ISBNs, barcodes, spine-width calculations, and printer templates * Experience handling photographs and image-heavy layouts ### Project Details This will begin as a freelance or contract position, with the potential for consistent ongoing work.
