Freelance CAD Designer – Custom Metal Stairs, Railings & Ironwork

Summary Lambert's Ironworks is a Texas-based custom metal fabrication company specializing in luxury residential gates, fencing, stairs, railings, and architectural metalwork. We're looking for a reliable freelance CAD designer to support our growing backlog of custom fabrication projects. This is an opportunity for ongoing work with a fabrication shop that values quality, responsiveness, and long-term relationships. We're looking for someone who can produce accurate, fabrication-ready shop drawings from field measurements, sketches, site photos, and architectural plans. This is not a design or engineering role. We will provide project information and guidance. We're looking for someone who can create clear, accurate drawings, ask questions when information is unclear, and become familiar with our fabrication standards over time. Responsibilities Create fabrication-ready shop drawings for custom metalwork Work from field measurements, sketches, site photos, and architectural plans Identify missing information before completing drawings Revise drawings based on customer or fabrication feedback Typical projects include: Stairs Railings Gates Fencing Balconies Miscellaneous architectural metalwork Deliverables PDF shop drawings Native CAD files STEP (.stp) files Requirements Experience creating shop drawings for custom fabricated products Ability to read architectural plans Strong attention to detail Clear communication and responsiveness Experience with architectural metal fabrication, stairs, and railings is strongly preferred. Experience with Fusion 360, AutoCAD, or SolidWorks is preferred. Software is flexible—the quality and accuracy of the drawings matter most.
