Freelance PR & Media Outreach Specialist (in German)

Project overview We are a content marketing agency with a growing portfolio of B2B clients across various industries — including energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, and industrial goods. We are looking for an experienced German-speaking PR freelancer for media outreach on an ongoing basis, working under our agency name. This is not a one-off project. We are looking for someone we can bring in repeatedly as projects arise. What you will do - Compile and curate media lists for individual projects. Target media will vary by sector (trade press, industry media, regional business outlets, and others depending on the brief) - Distribute press releases written by us to curated contact lists - Follow up actively with journalists — both by email and by phone — to maximize pickup and coverage - Handle inbound media inquiries promptly and professionally on behalf of our clients - Coordinate press portal distribution where required (e.g. news aktuell) - Basic media monitoring after each campaign - Deliver a short report per project: contacts reached, responses, published coverage What we provide - Fully written press releases and background materials in German - Clear briefings per project, including target media segments and key messages - All external communication runs under our agency name — white-label engagement throughout While we handle the core writing, we actively welcome your input — on angles, messaging, and how to best position a story for specific media. You know the journalists; we want that knowledge to flow into the content. What we are looking for - Proven track record in German B2B media relations across more than one industry - Comfortable switching between sectors — one project may be in energy/infrastructure, the next in paper/packaging, manufacturing or professional services - Confident and proactive in journalist follow-up, both written and by phone — this is a core part of the role - Available to handle inbound media inquiries on behalf of our clients. Journalists may call or write back, and we need someone who can respond promptly and professionally - Willing to contribute editorially — flag what works, suggest adjustments, push back if something won't land with a particular outlet - Existing relationships with German trade and industry journalists are a strong plus - Native-level German, solid English for internal coordination - Reliable, discreet, and comfortable operating under another agency's brand - Based in Germany or Austria - Scope & engagement model - Flexible, project-by-project. We brief you as new mandates come in - Estimated effort per project: 10–15 hours Budget Open to proposals. Please state your hourly rate or preferred per-project fee structure.
