Frontend Developer (React/Vue/Next.js) – Patient & Appointment Portal (Healthcare Web App)

Frontend Developer Needed for Healthcare Patient Portal (Athenahealth Integration) Overview We are looking for an experienced Frontend Developer to build a modern, responsive, and intuitive web application portal that integrates with our backend services and the Athenahealth EHR platform. The application will support key healthcare workflows including patient registration, patient profile management, appointment scheduling, appointment modifications, and related user interactions. This is a healthcare-focused application, so attention to detail, excellent user experience, accessibility, security awareness, and clean, maintainable code are essential. Responsibilities Patient Registration & Profile Management • Build user-friendly multi-step patient intake and registration forms • Create responsive profile pages for viewing and updating patient information • Display patient demographic data retrieved from backend APIs • Implement client-side validation and error handling Appointment Scheduling • Develop an interactive calendar interface for appointment availability • Build workflows for booking new appointments • Create appointment list and calendar views • Implement functionality for: o Rescheduling appointments o Modifying appointment details o Canceling appointments User Experience & Frontend Architecture • Consume REST APIs and manage asynchronous data efficiently • Implement loading states, skeleton screens, notifications, and error handling • Ensure a seamless user experience across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices • Maintain scalable and well-structured frontend architecture Required Skills Frontend Development • Strong experience with one of: o React.js o Next.js o Vue.js State Management • Redux • Zustand • Vuex • Equivalent modern state management solutions UI Development • Tailwind CSS • Material UI • Bootstrap • Other modern component libraries API Integration • REST API consumption • Axios / Fetch • Secure handling of authentication and authorization tokens Responsive Design • Mobile-first development • Cross-browser compatibility • Responsive layouts across all device sizes Preferred Qualifications • Previous experience building healthcare, health-tech, or patient-facing applications • Experience working with EHR/EMR integrations (Athenahealth experience is a plus) • Strong understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG) • Experience building dashboards, scheduling systems, or data-heavy portals • Strong UI/UX design sensibilities Project Details Project Type: One-time contract with potential for ongoing work Engagement Type: Fixed Expected Timeline: 3–4 weeks Budget: Based on experience and portfolio To Apply Please include the following in your proposal: 1.
