Full-Stack Developer Needed for School Partner Portal & Admin Operations Platform
Worldwide
We're looking for an experienced full-stack developer (or small development team) to build the MVP of a modern web application that will become the operational backbone of our nonprofit. This is more than just a school portal. Our goal is to create a centralized operations platform that streamlines school partnerships, automates manual workflows, and provides schools with secure access to donation reporting, resources, messaging, and account management. The platform should become the single source of truth for managing our partner schools while remaining simple and intuitive for non-technical users. What We're Building The platform will include two primary experiences: Internal Admin Dashboard: School and district management School application review and approval Onboarding workflows Donation reporting and reconciliation Contact and user management Messaging and announcements Resource and document management Workflow automation Reporting and audit history School Partner Portal Approved schools will have secure access to: Donation dashboards Monthly and custom date-range reports School profile and contact management User management Messaging with our team Resource library Announcements Onboarding tasks School Website Integration As part of the project, we also need the platform to integrate with our existing WordPress website. This includes: Creating new school profile pages within WordPress using a reusable template. Automatically populating and updating school information from the platform where appropriate. Ensuring each school has a consistent, branded webpage without requiring manual page creation each time a new school joins. Providing a workflow that allows our team to easily create and manage new school pages. Third-Party Integrations The platform should integrate with our existing tools, including: Donorbox for donation and campaign data Bloomerang for donor and CRM data Google Workspace for communication and notifications WordPress for public-facing school pages and website content Our goal is to reduce duplicate data entry and automate as much of the workflow as possible between these systems. Technology We are not developers and have not made a final decision about the technology that should be used. We care much more about building the right product than forcing a specific technology. Who We're Looking For We're looking for someone who enjoys solving business problems, not just writing code. The ideal developer will: Think beyond the written requirements. Recommend better workflows when appropriate. Build scalable, maintainable software. Communicate clearly throughout the project. Be interested in a long-term partnership beyond the initial MVP. Before You Apply We have already prepared a detailed requirements document covering user roles, workflows, permissions, integrations, reporting logic, and business rules. This document will be shared with shortlisted candidates to support technical discussions and project estimates. To Apply Please include the following in your proposal: A brief introduction about yourself and your experience building similar portals, dashboards, CRMs, or operational platforms. Links to 2-3 similar projects you have personally built. Your recommended technology stack for this project and why you would choose it. Please explain your recommendations as if you were speaking to someone with no software development background. I am the CEO of the organization, not a developer. One of the most important qualities I'm looking for is someone who can explain technical concepts, tradeoffs, and recommendations in plain English without relying on technical jargon. After reviewing our requirements document, tell us one thing you would improve, simplify, or approach differently, and explain your reasoning in plain English. Please provide: Your estimated timeline Your estimated fixed price based on this listing Your availability over the next few months Attention to Detail To help us identify applicants who carefully read this posting, please begin your proposal with the phrase: "Every child deserves lunch." Proposals that do not begin with this phrase will not be considered. Our Goal We're not looking for someone to simply complete a project and move on. We're looking for a trusted technical partner who can help us build software that saves our team time, improves the experience for our school partners, and continues evolving as our organization grows. If you're excited about building software that creates real operational impact for a mission-driven organization, we'd love to hear from you.
