Job Title: Full-Stack Next.js Developer – Exceptional CSS, Eye for Detail & Autonomy (Part-Time to Full-Time / Long-term) Job Description: We are an agile boutique digital studio looking for a proactive, reliable, and autonomous Full-Stack Developer to join our team on a long-term freelance basis. We don't want someone who just blindly executes tickets; we need a professional who uses common sense, takes true ownership of their work, and has a sharp eye for design and user experience. You will be working closely with our Project Manager and Lead Designer to take over our core codebases, ensure high-quality production deployments, and build/maintain our platforms. Key Responsibilities & Projects: Application Refactor (Next.js): Lead a complete code and architectural refactor of an existing web platform to improve performance, maintainability, and frontend polish. Product Maintenance & Optimization: Maintain and optimize mature web applications (including features like custom widgets, database management, and integrations). This involves fixing bugs, updating minor features, and ensuring absolute stability in production. Rigorous QA: Thoroughly test your own code across different viewports and edge cases before considering a task "done." What We Are Looking For: Tech Stack: Strong production experience with Next.js, Node.js (Express), Prisma, and MongoDB. Exceptional CSS & Frontend Polish: You genuinely care about pixel-perfect execution, clean layouts, responsiveness, and smooth UX. Autonomy & Proactivity: You don't need micro-management. You look ahead, foresee edge cases, and ask the right questions before implementing. High Sense of Urgency: If a critical bug hits production, you immediately enter "fix-it" mode and communicate transparently until it's resolved. Language Requirements: English: Fluent (primary language for technical documentation and tasks). Spanish or Catalan: Highly valued / Big plus Project Details: Hours & Growth: Starting at roughly 20–25 hours/week (4-5 hours/day). For the right candidate who proves their quality and autonomy, there is a strong possibility of transitioning to a full-time role. Long-term Collaboration: We are strictly looking for a long-term partner to grow with our studio, not a short-term contractor. Remote: 100% Remote. Screening Questions (Mandatory to apply): The Production Crisis Test: Imagine a deployment goes live, and 10 minutes later users report that a critical feature (like the chat system) is completely broken. Walk us through your exact mindset and step-by-step process to handle this crisis. The "Eye for Detail" Test: We value frontend quality immensely. Please share a link to a project or code snippet where you are particularly proud of your custom CSS, responsiveness, or attention to UI/UX detail. What is your current availability? Are you comfortable starting part-time (4-5 hours/day) with the potential to scale up to full-time as we build trust?
