GA4 + Google Tag Manager expert to clean up our tracking and tell us which channels actually work
Worldwide
We're a venture-backed dev-infrastructure startup with a content-led growth motion — technical blog posts, free Docker downloads, and demo-request forms. Trouble is, we can't fully trust our numbers right now. We want someone sharp to fix that and help us understand where our conversions actually come from. Here's what we're dealing with: Conversion tracking: Our two main conversions are free Docker downloads (ungated — no form in the way, so tracking them cleanly is its own puzzle) and demo-request forms (embedded hubspot form). We need numbers solid enough to spend budget on. Especially: how do organic search and LLM/AI traffic (ChatGPT, Perplexity, and friends) turn into downloads and demos? Total black box for us right now. A bot problem: Our Direct traffic is getting slammed by bots — around 20k of fake "growth" a month. We've been filtering with custom JS in GTM, but it's whack-a-mole. We want to hear how you'd approach it. Reports that are clean, recurring, boardroom-ready. We're not after someone who just takes tickets. We want someone who'll audit what we've got, learn how our business works, and tell us what we should be tracking and why. Must-haves: Real GA4 + Google Tag Manager expertise and genuine attribution work (not just e-commerce purchase tracking). HubSpot is a big plus — it's our CRM. Our website is with Webflow if that matters. Big bonus: You've worked with developer-tool or data-infrastructure startups, especially anywhere you've had to track Docker downloads or other ungated, no-form conversions. Logistics: We're on US Pacific Time. Please overlap about half our day. We'd love you in our Slack for quick questions, plus the occasional call when something's easier to talk through than type. To apply, just answer these three: How would you start diagnosing bot traffic that keeps slipping past our client-side GTM filters? Have you tracked Docker downloads or similar ungated conversions before? Tell us about it. Thoughtful answers get a quick reply.
