Summary

Job Title: GIS and Remote Sensing Specialist for Historical Estate Identification Project Overview: I am building a geospatial database of abandoned historical stone estates, hidden sanatoriums, and elite retreats in specific European regions. This project focuses strictly on geospatial identification and topographical filtering. Do not research property ownership, legal status, or cadastral data. This project is split into two phases: Phase One is a paid qualification test. Phase Two is the full database expansion. Target Regions: Eastern and Southern Europe, specifically the rural Balkans, inland Albania, sub Carpathian Romania, Bulgaria, and the Apennine region of Italy. Examples of Target Property Types: The Hidden Sanatoriums and Elite Retreats: Estates historically chosen by nobility, pre war medical professionals, or post war political elites for their optimal microclimates. Search for abandoned hunting lodges, secret political villas, or private high altitude retreats historically hidden from public maps. Romania: Abandoned manor houses, fortified stone houses, or historical elite retreats. Bulgaria and the Balkans: Large stone mansions in forested valleys, Ottoman era fortified houses, or historical merchant estates. Italy: Forgotten palaces or former retreats in remote Apennine valleys. Strict Technical and Filtering Criteria: Technical Methodology: Standard satellite imagery is insufficient, as collapsed roofs are often covered by forest canopy. You must utilize LiDAR Digital Terrain Models to identify geometric stone foundations beneath the tree line. You must also cross reference current coordinates with georeferenced historical topographic and military maps from the late eighteen hundreds to nineteen forty, and utilize winter and near infrared satellite data. Foundation and Structure: Massive stone or masonry footprint. Minimum footprint: 150 square meters. Properties with intact or semi intact roofs are highly prioritized. While roofless ruins are acceptable if the location is flawless, structures where the original roof has protected the interior masonry from freeze thaw cycles are the ultimate goal. Rural or Shielded Location: Must not be near a city or large town. Locations on the periphery of fading villages, deep in shielded valleys, or hidden in nature are required. Topography and Water Logic: Option A: Located at a hydrological knot, such as a river junction or meander. Option B: Nestled in a shielded valley, ravine, or gorge. If not on a river, the property must have a proven water source, like a historical deep well, underground cistern, or mountain spring. Exclusion: Avoid flatlands, marshes, swamps, or slow moving river deltas to guarantee natural air circulation. Project Phases and Deliverables: Phase One - Qualification Test: Provide two to three test candidates from a specific area, for example a specific valley in Romania or Bulgaria, that strictly meet the criteria above. Deliverables: A spreadsheet containing exact GPS coordinates, estimated structural footprint in square meters, details on the water source, brief historical context, and two screenshots per candidate showing the satellite view and the DTM or topographical view. Phase Two - Database Expansion: Upon successful completion of Phase One, the contract will be expanded to scale the search across the primary target regions. Deliverables: A populated spreadsheet of twenty to fifty verified targets matching all technical and topographical criteria.
