Job Description I am looking for an experienced Python backend engineer to take a fully written, tested, and documented geospatial scoring platform and deploy it into production. What is already done: Complete Python backend codebase — scoring pipeline, REST API, database schema 705-line technical specification document covering every design decision 27-test test suite that passes from day one Requirements.txt with all dependencies pinned What you will do: Deploy infrastructure on AWS or DigitalOcean (PostgreSQL + PostGIS, Redis, FastAPI) Connect live external data pipelines via public APIs (OpenStreetMap Overpass, eBird Cornell Lab, Copernicus satellite) Implement Stripe payment processing and automated PDF report delivery Set up Redis caching, performance optimisation, and monitoring Ensure security best practices — environment variable management, API key protection Run the existing test suite and confirm all 27 tests pass in production Tech stack: Python 3.11 · FastAPI · PostgreSQL 15 + PostGIS · Redis · Celery · Rasterio · GDAL · Shapely · GeoPandas · OSMnx · NumPy · SciPy · Stripe · AWS EC2/RDS or DigitalOcean · ReportLab (PDF generation) You are the right fit if: You have deployed Python FastAPI backends in production before You are comfortable with geospatial libraries (GDAL, Rasterio, PostGIS) You understand environment variable security and have never committed secrets to git You can work independently from a technical specification without hand-holding You have experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred, DigitalOcean acceptable) Project scope: This is a fixed-price project with a clear deliverable: the platform running in production, all external data sources connected, Stripe payments live, test suite passing.
