Google Merchant Fix [Shopify]
Worldwide
Need issues concerning our google merchant requirements fixed as we have a subscription option on our products they have flagged customers cannot make purchases directly via shopify/google feed. 1. Confirm the cart implementation Check whether the theme's Add to Cart / buy button logic uses CartJS (Shopify's legacy cart AJAX API) or the newer Cart API that supports selling plans. Search theme code for cart.js, cart/add.js calls, or the subscribe-and-save app's embed script to see which cart method is firing on the PDP. 2. Check if selling plan ID is being passed On the live PDP, open DevTools → Network tab, select a subscription option, and click Add to Cart. Inspect the request payload sent to /cart/add.js — it should include a selling_plan field with a valid ID when 'Subscribe & Save' is chosen, and should be omitted (or null) for one-time purchase. 3. Verify selling plan IDs are current In Shopify Admin, confirm the selling plan group tied to this product is still active and the IDs referenced in the theme/app code match what's currently configured. IDs can go stale if the subscription app was reinstalled, reconfigured, or the selling plan group was recreated. 4. Test the default (no-JS-interaction) state Load the PDP fresh and, without clicking anything, check whether Add to Cart is enabled and mapped to a valid variant + purchase option by default. If the button requires an explicit click to 'arm' before it works, that's likely what's blocking automated checkout attempts like Google's crawler. 5. Watch for console errors during widget load Open the browser console and reload the PDP. Look for any JS errors thrown by the subscription widget on init — failed fetch of selling plans, undefined variant IDs, or script load race conditions are common causes of a stuck 'Please select a variant' state. 6. Test one-time purchase and subscription paths separately Manually complete an Add to Cart → Checkout flow for both the one-time price and the Subscribe & Save option on this exact product (and ideally 2-3 others). Confirm both reach a working checkout without errors. 7. Re-test on throttled network speed In DevTools, throttle to Slow 3G and repeat the Add to Cart test. If the button stays disabled or unresponsive well beyond a few seconds, this could explain why an automated system times out before completing the action. 8. Cross-check the Merchant Center checkout URL template Confirm the checkout URL Merchant Center uses for this feed matches your live cart/checkout flow exactly, not a custom or outdated URL pattern. A mismatch here can independently trigger the same warning.
