Grant Application Writer

About SPNSR The financial engine your club can't live without. SPNSR's mission is to give UK community sports clubs the power to become financially sustainable. We find funding clubs miss, and we make sponsorship value visible — so sponsors see the return, renew, and invest more. We run two engines for clubs: Funding to build — we find the grants, build the strategy, and write and manage every application end-to-end. No win, no fee. Revenue to run — members track their spending at partner businesses through the SPNSR app, so sponsors see exactly what the community is worth, in pounds not promises. We're a small, fast-moving team working with sports clubs across the UK — and we're building the grants side into a sharp, high-conversion engine. We're hiring: Grant Writer (community sport) Paid per application submitted, plus a success fee on every grant approved. You own the writing. You'll work directly with clubs, shape each application to the funder's exact criteria, get it submitted on time, and deliver conversion rates that beat the industry. What you'll do Turn each club project into a funder-ready application — tailored to the funder's priorities, scoring criteria, and word limits. Run discovery and scoping calls with clubs to fill gaps and strengthen the case. Build clear cost breakdowns, project plans, and community-impact narratives. Review, submit, and track applications to deadline; log every outcome. Help us sharpen the grants engine — what wins, what doesn't, where we get faster. Essential Proven track record of successful grant applications. No track record, no application — though strong grant-writing experience outside sport may count for an otherwise excellent applicant. Genuine passion for community sport. Familiarity with major UK sports and community funders. Sharp, persuasive writer who works to exact criteria and word count. Strong grasp of what makes a project fundable: clear need, outcomes, deliverability, match funding. Organised, deadline-driven, comfortable running multiple live applications at once. Confident drawing information out of volunteer-run clubs. Desirable Capital/facilities bids (pavilions, pitches, nets, changing rooms). CASC / charity structures, safeguarding, and inclusion requirements. How it works. Per-application engagement, not salaried. Fixed fee per submission, plus a success fee on every approval. The more you win, the more you earn. You'll thrive here if you measure your work in bids submitted and grants landed and care as much about the clubs as the funding.
