Element Education is seeking an experienced Grant Writer to help secure funding for the Element Indigenous Innovation Fellowship (EIIF), an innovative program designed to equip Indigenous entrepreneurs, creators, and future founders with the skills to build AI-powered businesses, products, and digital solutions. The Fellowship brings together Indigenous learners from across Canada in a cohort-based experience focused on entrepreneurship, technology, product development, and artificial intelligence. Our goal is to partner with Indigenous Nations, Friendship Centres, economic development organizations, and public funding programs to expand access and create meaningful opportunities for Indigenous communities. About the Role We are looking for a grant writer with demonstrated experience securing funding from: Indigenous organizations and Nations Federal and provincial grant programs Workforce development and skills training initiatives Economic development organizations Foundations and philanthropic organizations Corporate sponsorship and community investment programs This is a contract position with the potential for ongoing work as Element Education continues to expand its programming. Responsibilities Research and identify relevant funding opportunities across Canada. Develop and write compelling grant proposals and funding applications. Prepare budgets, impact statements, and supporting documentation. Customize proposals for Indigenous Nations, Friendship Centres, and economic development organizations. Assist with partnership outreach materials and funding presentations. Maintain a grant application pipeline and submission calendar. Track application deadlines, reporting requirements, and outcomes. Collaborate with the Founder to articulate program goals, impact metrics, and long-term vision. Qualifications Proven experience writing successful grant applications. Experience working with Indigenous organizations, education programs, or non-profits is highly preferred. Strong understanding of Canadian funding landscapes, including federal, provincial, and philanthropic sources. Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills. Ability to translate program outcomes into measurable impact. Experience developing budgets and funding proposals. Self-directed and comfortable working remotely. Nice to Have Existing relationships with Indigenous communities or economic development organizations. Experience securing grants exceeding $25,000. Familiarity with workforce development, entrepreneurship, or technology training programs. Experience with programs focused on AI, innovation, or digital skills.
