Graphic Designer for 1980s Punk Zine
Worldwide
I am seeking an expert graphic designer/digital collage artist to execute the print-ready layout for a high-stakes, underground investigative zine pamphlet. The document details complex corporate consolidation, structural mapping, and international regulatory data. Due to the sensitive nature of the research, the specific industry and entities involved are confidential. An NDA is strictly required before any project details, finalized text, or data sets are shared. The text, compliance data, and contributor lists are completely finalized. Your job is to translate this heavy research into a raw, high-impact, 1980s DIY punk fanzine format that strips away corporate polish and presents the hard data with urgent, street-level authority. Core Design Challenge: The Network Webbing The critical component of this pamphlet is a series of "Corporate Ownership Maps." These are complex, hierarchical data networks showing connections between parent corporations, shell companies, and operating brands. You will be responsible for creating "webbing" diagrams that trace these connections from the top down. This webbing must look like an underground, investigative wall map—utilizing hand-drawn arrows, taped-on labels, typewriter tables, and jagged connecting lines. The final layout must balance a chaotic, street-level aesthetic with absolute legibility so the reader can easily track the flow of information. Aesthetic Direction: This document must look like it was manually assembled on a kitchen table using a typewriter, scissors, and a photocopier to preserve a raw, authentic underground feel. Typography: Mixed, mismatched, and jagged typography. Use ransom-note style cut-out lettering for headers, typed body text (courier/typewriter), and hand-drawn or stenciled accents. Layout: Cut-and-paste digital collage styling. We require asymmetrical arrangements, overlapping text blocks, heavy black borders, paste-up lines, and angled positioning. Visual Texture: High-contrast, grainy, stark black-and-white Xerox textures. Absolutely no smooth digital gradients, modern drop shadows, or clean corporate grid spacing. Scope of Work & Deliverables: Complete layout for a high-density, pocket-sized print-ready zine pamphlet. Execution of the corporate webbing diagrams and independent data lists directly into the visual collage style. Final delivery of a high-resolution, print-ready PDF (300 DPI, CMYK) configured properly for physical printing and folding. Delivery of fully layered source files (Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, or Photoshop packages). Requirements: Proven experience with alternative layout design, zine creation, or digital collage techniques that emulate analog print. Strong capability in information architecture—specifically turning complex relational data into scannable, stylized diagrams (webbing). Absolute commitment to discretion and confidentiality. To Apply: Please share 2–3 examples from your portfolio that demonstrate raw zine layout, punk aesthetics, complex data mapping, or analog-style cut-and-paste graphics. Standard corporate white papers, clean digital marketing portfolios, or modern book formatting layouts will not be considered.
