Hardware and Embedded Software Developer
Worldwide
We are looking for one or more experienced embedded hardware / PCB design engineers for a project-based collaboration on next-generation educational robotics and STEM electronics. The work involves redesigning a modular electronics architecture around interchangeable controller boards, including compatibility with platforms such as BBC micro:bit, ESP32-based controllers, and Arduino-compatible systems. The broader roadmap may also include sensors, motion modules, AI camera / machine-vision modules, servos, motor-control electronics, and robotics applications. This is not a simple hobby Arduino project. We need production-minded hardware design capability, including schematic design, PCB layout, component selection, BOM optimisation, supplier-aware part selection, prototype bring-up, test firmware, manufacturing files, and support for small-batch assembly with a path toward larger-scale production. The ideal engineer or small team should be able to support the full development cycle: * architecture review and module definition; * schematic and PCB layout; * BBC micro:bit edge-connector / expansion-board compatibility; * ESP32 / Arduino-compatible hardware integration; * AI camera / machine-vision module integration, including camera-module interfaces, power requirements, mounting/connectivity considerations, and communication with the main controller; * I²C, SPI, UART, PWM, ADC, sensor and actuator interfaces; * motor, servo, and power-management design; * design for manufacturability and assembly; * BOM optimisation using suppliers such as LCSC, JLCPCB, Mouser, DigiKey, or equivalent; * preparation of Gerbers, BOM, Pick & Place/CPL, assembly drawings, and production files; * basic firmware for testing and validation; * prototype debugging and revision support; * eventual support for small manufacturing runs and later production scaling. The first paid project will be a small fixed-scope electronics module used to evaluate the collaboration. If successful, additional modules and a broader electronics redesign roadmap may follow. Please apply only if you can show previous embedded PCB projects that were actually manufactured, preferably involving micro:bit expansion boards, ESP32, Arduino-compatible systems, sensors, AI camera / vision modules, motor/servo control, robotics, IoT, or educational electronics. We are interested in fixed-scope project work with clear milestones, deliverables, source-file transfer, and proper documentation. All design files, firmware, BOMs, and manufacturing outputs must be transferred upon payment.
