Head of Content, Social Media Strategist & Team Lead

Job Title: Head of Content, Social Media Strategist & Team Lead (Full-Time, Long-Term) About the Role We're a growing content brand in the dog training space, hiring a full-time Head of Content to lead our social media strategy across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube (short-form and long-form), and Facebook. This is not a social media manager role in the traditional sense. We're not looking for someone to schedule posts, respond to comments, or "manage" our presence. We already have those pieces handled. We're looking for a proven strategist and editor who can: Diagnose why our accounts have stalled and lead the turnaround Own multi-platform growth strategy end to end Lead and train our existing team of video editors Edit videos themselves at a high standard, setting the bar for the team Bring proven experience, not theories This is a full-time, long-term, exclusive role. We want someone building a career with us, not stacking us alongside three other clients. Where We Are Right Now Facebook: ~20,000 followers TikTok: ~15,000 followers YouTube: ~9,500 followers Instagram: ~2,600 followers (weakest platform) Our top videos have hit 200,000+ views, but those are outliers. Most of our content lands in the low hundreds. Views and follower growth are trending in the wrong direction, and we need a leader who can reverse the decline and take the accounts to scale. At our peak, we were producing 10+ pieces of content per day with a team of five editors. We're currently down to one piece per day. We want to rebuild that engine, but this time with platform-specific strategy, not the same video reposted across every channel. Who We're Looking For You've either worked in-house at a top short-form agency, on an established creator's back-end team, or at a growth-focused content studio, and you've absorbed how the real systems work. Alternatively, you've built and scaled your own accounts, or scaled accounts for your clients, to a level that proves it. Either path is fine, but you need to be able to prove it. Screenshots, links, before/after numbers, case studies. If you can't demonstrate that you've personally driven follower and view growth at scale, this role isn't for you. You know how to: Read analytics and diagnose exactly why content is or isn't performing Engineer the moment a viewer decides to follow, not just watch Build platform-specific strategies and script videos for the moments that drive watch time, follows, and shares Optimize for retention and watch time as the core growth levers Build platform-native strategies for TikTok, Reels, YouTube Shorts, YouTube long-form, and Facebook Brief editors so clearly they don't need to ask questions Execute the edit yourself at a high level Use AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, and others) fluently in your workflow Logistics Full-time, 40 hours per week, exclusive to us. No other clients or agency work on the side. Any timezone works, as long as you can join our team meetings on Google Meet. Time Doctor is used across our team for time tracking. Metricool for analytics and scheduling, CapCut for editing. Open to your recommendations. How to Apply Please read this carefully. Generic proposals will be rejected. Start your proposal with the phrase: "Head of Content ready." Share links to accounts or channels you've personally grown or worked on at a strategic level, with before/after numbers and timeframe. No links, no consideration. Answer this: When an account's views and follower growth start declining, what are the first three things you look at, and in what order? Describe one specific time you turned around a declining account, or diagnosed the exact reason a video underperformed. Be specific. Vague answers get filtered out. Tell us one thing you'd want to know about our business or current content before proposing a strategy. Briefly: what AI tools are part of your workflow, and how do you actually use them? A Note on Timing There is no rush. We will not be making a hire for at least 7 to 10 days. We're waiting for all applications to come in and reading each one carefully. If you're the right person for this role, don't approach it as another Upwork proposal to shotgun out. Take your time. Make it excellent. We're not looking for the fastest applicant. We're looking for the right one. And when we find them, it's a long-term role with real career upside.
