About the Role We are seeking a highly skilled Patent Drafting & Technical Research Specialist to support the development, documentation, and protection of our intellectual property portfolio. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of deep technical understanding, structured writing, and creative problem‑solving. You will work closely with founders to transform raw invention concepts into high‑quality patent disclosures, diagrams, and supporting research. Key Responsibilities Draft high‑quality patent disclosures, provisional applications, and invention summaries using structured USPTO‑aligned templates. Translate complex technical concepts into clear, defensible patent language. Conduct prior‑art research, competitive analysis, and landscape reviews to identify novelty and claimable space. Create patent‑grade diagrams, including system architectures, flowcharts, block diagrams, UML sequences, and process schematics. Collaborate to extract invention details, clarify mechanisms, and validate technical accuracy. Organize invention materials, maintain documentation, and support IP strategy development. Prepare multiple embodiments, alternative implementations, and claim variations to strengthen filings. Work with internal and external patent counsel to refine drafts and support prosecution. Ensure consistency, clarity, and completeness across all patent‑related documents. Required Qualifications Strong background in engineering, computer science, robotics, AI/ML, autonomy, or related technical fields. Demonstrated experience drafting technical documents, patent disclosures, research summaries, or similar structured writing. Ability to understand complex systems and break them down into clear, logical components. Familiarity with patent structure, terminology, and USPTO filing conventions. Excellent written communication skills with attention to detail and precision. Experience creating technical diagrams and visual representations of systems. Strong analytical and research skills, including prior‑art review and competitive analysis. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience drafting provisional or non‑provisional patent applications. Experience with simulation systems, autonomy stacks, sensor fusion, or AI infrastructure. Familiarity with patent databases (Google Patents, USPTO, WIPO, Lens.org). Experience working with patent attorneys or IP strategy teams. Ability to manage multiple invention threads simultaneously. What You’ll Bring A structured, methodical approach to technical writing.
