Summary

We are looking for an exceptional senior UI/UX web designer / creative director to completely redesign our website, GoldGeek. This is a DESIGN project — not a development project. Our developer will build the finished website in custom Next.js / React. Your responsibility will be to create the complete website experience and deliver a developer-ready Figma design. About GoldGeek GoldGeek is a third-generation, family-owned jewelry and precious metals buying company located in New York City’s Diamond District. Customers can send us jewelry, gold, watches, diamonds, coins, and other valuables from anywhere in the country to receive an offer. We want to completely change the way an online gold buyer looks and feels. We do not want the traditional “Cash for Gold” aesthetic. The finished website should feel more like a premium financial or luxury brand than a typical gold-buying company. Think: Apple × Rolex × Stripe × Sotheby’s Clean. Sophisticated. Modern. Trustworthy. Extremely easy to use. What We Already Have We already have: * An existing GoldGeek website * New website copy * A concept/mockup showing the direction we like * Brand assets * A developer who will implement the finished design in Next.js/React We will provide the existing concept as a starting point. However, we do NOT want someone to simply recreate or polish the existing mockup. We want an experienced designer who can look at what we have and say: “I can make this significantly better.” We are specifically looking for someone with strong creative judgment who will bring their own ideas to the project. Visual Direction The website needs to combine two things that are often difficult to achieve together: Luxury The site should feel premium enough that someone would feel comfortable sending us a $20,000 Rolex, Cartier bracelet, diamond ring, or inherited jewelry collection. Conversion The site also needs to make it incredibly simple and reassuring for someone—particularly an older customer—to understand the process and request a free insured shipping kit. Beautiful design is important, but conversion and trust are equally important. AI Video / Motion We want to incorporate high-quality video, motion, and AI-generated visual content throughout the website where appropriate. We are NOT looking for generic AI videos that obviously look AI-generated. We want sophisticated, photorealistic luxury imagery/video that could include concepts such as: * Fine jewelry macro photography * Gold and precious metals * Luxury watches * Jewelry being professionally evaluated * NYC / Diamond District atmosphere * Insured shipping and packaging * Jewelry transitioning from forgotten pieces into value * Emotional storytelling around inherited and unworn jewelry * Subtle cinematic backgrounds * Premium product-style animations Think luxury commercial, not AI gimmick. If you have experience with tools such as Runway, Veo, Sora, Kling, Midjourney, or similar generative creative tools, please mention it. We are open to your creative direction regarding where video and motion will actually improve the experience. Scope We need a complete Figma design system and responsive website design, including: * Homepage * How It Works * What We Buy * Jewelry * Gold * Luxury Watches * Diamonds * Coins & Bullion * About Us * Reviews / Testimonials * FAQ * Request a Free Shipping Kit * Contact * Supporting landing pages The final scope may change as we develop the information architecture. Figma Deliverables The final Figma should be organized so our Next.js/React developer can implement it accurately. We expect: * Desktop designs * Mobile designs * Responsive behavior clearly defined * Reusable components * Design system * Typography system * Color system * Buttons and form states * Navigation * Footer * Icons * Form designs * Hover/interactions * Animation and transition direction * Video placement and behavior * Developer handoff documentation The designer should understand how their designs will translate into a custom React/Next.js frontend and avoid designs that are impractical to implement or unnecessarily hurt performance. Conversion Is Extremely Important This is ultimately a lead-generation website. The primary CTA is: Request a Free Insured Shipping Kit Every major design decision should help increase: * Trust * Credibility * Shipping-kit requests * Completed forms * Customer confidence Our customers are frequently 50–80+ years old, so readability, simplicity, trust, and ease of navigation are extremely important. We don’t want a beautiful website that confuses customers. Who We’re Looking For We are looking for someone with a portfolio demonstrating exceptional modern website design. Ideal experience includes: * Luxury brands * Fintech * High-end e-commerce * Jewelry / watches * Financial services * Premium consumer brands * Conversion-focused websites * Awwwards-level web design Experience designing for React/Next.js development is strongly preferred. How to Apply Please do NOT send a generic proposal. Start your application with the word GOLDGEEK so we know you read the entire post. Then send us: 1. Your 3 best website designs — not your entire portfolio. 2. One example of a website where you designed something with high-end motion/video. 3. Any examples of AI-generated video or imagery you have created. 4. Tell us what you would change about the current GoldGeek website. 5. Tell us how you would make a gold-buying website feel more like a luxury brand than a “Cash for Gold” company. 6. Confirm that you will deliver a fully organized, developer-ready Figma file for our Next.js/React developer. We are willing to pay for exceptional work. We are not looking for the cheapest designer. We are looking for the designer who can make GoldGeek one of the best-designed and highest-converting websites in the industry.
