We are looking for a senior PCB layout engineer to complete and review a small M.2 adapter board. The design routes PCIe Gen3 signals between an M.2 edge connector and a board-to-board connector. It also includes: - 3.3V power input - Load switch and current limiting - Clock routing - Reset and presence-detect signals - I2C/SMBus connection - ESD protection - A few configuration jumpers and test points The schematic is approximately 90% complete. Some preliminary placement has also been done, but high-speed routing has not started. The person we hire should be comfortable making layout decisions without needing step-by-step direction. Scope: - Review the schematic and interface pinout - Confirm connector orientation and pin mapping - Create or verify footprints - Finalize the stack-up with the PCB manufacturer - Set impedance and differential-pair rules - Route PCIe lanes with proper spacing, length matching, and return paths - Review reference-clock routing - Check power-plane current capacity and voltage drop - Add useful test points without damaging signal integrity - Perform DRC, signal-integrity, and DFM reviews - Deliver complete manufacturing and source files Board size is approximately 70 mm × 45 mm. We expect a 6-layer board, although we are open to an 8-layer recommendation if there is a strong technical reason. The project should take roughly one to two weeks. We are specifically looking for someone with real high-speed digital layout experience. General electronics experience alone is not enough. In your proposal, please mention: - The fastest interface you have routed - Which PCB tool you use - How you normally validate PCIe routing before fabrication
