Summary

We’re building a YouTube channel from the ground up and are looking for talented people to help us create high-quality, entertaining content. We’re looking for experienced YouTube video editors, writers, producers, directors, and thumbnail designers. You can apply for one role or multiple roles if you have the skills. We want people who: * Have a strong portfolio and YouTube experience * Understand pacing, storytelling, and audience retention * Communicate clearly and meet deadlines * Are creative, reliable, and open to feedback * Can work well as part of a team For editors, we’re looking for strong cuts, pacing, sound design, effects, captions, and overall storytelling. For writers, we want engaging hooks, strong structure, research, and scripts that keep viewers watching. For producers/directors, we want people who can help plan videos, organize production, develop ideas, and keep projects running smoothly. Please include your portfolio, experience, availability, rates, and the role(s) you’re interested in. This is intended to become a long-term creative team as the channel grows. What You’ll Be Working On The channel is starting from the ground up, so we’re looking for people who are comfortable helping develop the creative process from the beginning. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute ideas, experiment with different approaches, and help establish the overall style and identity of the channel. The content will be built around entertainment, personality, strong concepts, memorable moments, and videos that give viewers a reason to keep watching. Expectations We want everyone on the team to take ownership of their role. If you notice something that could make a video better, we want you to speak up and suggest it. You should be able to: * Follow creative briefs and project instructions * Meet agreed deadlines * Communicate if something needs clarification * Handle revisions professionally * Keep project files organized * Pay attention to detail * Adapt to feedback * Work independently when necessary * Collaborate with other members of the production team For Editors Editors should be comfortable working with raw footage and turning it into a polished final video. We value strong storytelling over simply adding as many effects as possible. You should understand how to keep a video moving while still giving important moments room to breathe. Good comedic timing, music selection, sound effects, visual emphasis, pacing, and retention are all important. For Writers Writers should be able to take an idea and develop it into a complete YouTube concept or script. We value strong openings, interesting storytelling, natural wording, good pacing, research, and creative ideas. Scripts should sound natural when spoken rather than feeling like something written for a textbook. For Producers and Directors We’re looking for people who can help turn ideas into organized productions. This may involve planning, scheduling, communicating with team members, organizing shoots, helping develop concepts, identifying potential problems before production, and keeping everyone focused on the overall goal. Strong organization and communication are especially important for these positions. Creative Collaboration This will be a collaborative environment. Editors, writers, producers, directors, and designers may need to communicate with each other throughout a project. We want people who can respectfully give and receive feedback and who understand that the goal is to make the final video as strong as possible. Long-Term Opportunity Although the channel is currently being built from the ground up, the goal is to develop a consistent team that can continue working together as the channel grows. Strong performance, reliability, creativity, and communication may lead to more frequent projects and longer-term opportunities. Applying Please don’t send a generic application if possible. Tell us what role you specialize in, what type of YouTube content you’ve worked on, and what makes your work different. Include relevant examples rather than unrelated work whenever possible. We’ll review portfolios and experience first, then determine which candidates are the strongest fit for the channel and the type of content we plan to produce. Our Creative Vision We want to build a YouTube channel that feels intentional, entertaining, and memorable. Every part of a video should have a purpose, from the opening seconds to the final moment. We care about the overall viewer experience, not just individual parts of production. A great idea needs great execution, and great footage needs great storytelling. We want our team to think beyond simply completing assignments. If you have an idea that could improve a video, we want you to bring it to the table. Content Development Ideas may begin as simple concepts and develop into larger productions. Team members may be asked to help brainstorm concepts, research topics, develop storylines, create outlines, improve hooks, plan scenes, or figure out creative ways to make a video more entertaining. We value originality. We don’t want every video to feel like a copy of another creator. At the same time, we want everyone to understand what makes successful YouTube content work. Creativity and audience awareness should work together. Audience Retention Keeping viewers interested is extremely important. We want team members who understand that viewers can leave at any moment. The opening needs to establish why the viewer should care, and the video should continue providing interesting moments, information, entertainment, or story progression. Editors and writers should pay attention to pacing and avoid unnecessary sections that slow the video down. Producers and directors should think about how the structure of the production affects the final viewing experience. Editing Philosophy We aren’t looking for someone who believes that adding more effects automatically makes a video better. Effects, transitions, captions, zooms, graphics, music, and sound effects should support the story rather than distract from it. We want editing that feels modern, energetic, and intentional while still allowing the personalities and content to carry the video. An editor should know when to make a moment exciting and when to simply let the moment happen. Storytelling Storytelling is important even when the video isn’t a traditional story. A video should have a reason for existing, a clear direction, and some form of progression. We want the audience to understand what is happening, why it matters, and what they should be looking forward to. Strong storytelling can turn a simple concept into something people remember. Communication Good communication is one of the most important qualities we’re looking for. If you are going to miss a deadline, encounter a technical issue, need additional footage, or don’t understand part of a project, communicate as early as possible. We would rather have someone communicate clearly than disappear when a problem occurs. We also appreciate people who can explain creative decisions instead of simply saying that something “looks better.” Feedback and Revisions Creative work involves feedback. There may be times when an edit, script, thumbnail, or creative direction needs to be changed. We expect team members to be able to take constructive feedback and make revisions without taking it personally. At the same time, we want a team where people can respectfully disagree and explain why they believe a different approach would work better. The goal isn’t for one person to always be right. The goal is to produce the strongest possible work. Reliability Talent is important, but reliability matters just as much. Someone who is extremely talented but consistently misses deadlines or stops communicating can create problems for an entire production. We’re looking for people who take commitments seriously and understand that their work may affect several other members of the team. Organization Good organization will become increasingly important as the channel grows. Project files, footage, scripts, graphics, audio, thumbnails, and other assets should be organized so that other team members can easily understand and access what they need. We want to develop systems that make production smoother rather than creating unnecessary confusion. Collaboration A YouTube video may involve several people. A writer develops the concept. A producer helps organize it. A director helps execute the creative vision. A camera operator captures the footage. An editor turns the footage into a finished story. A thumbnail designer creates the visual packaging. Each role contributes to the final result. We want people who respect the work of other team members and understand how their role connects to everyone else’s. Creative Initiative We appreciate people who bring ideas. If you notice a better way to structure a scene, improve a thumbnail, rewrite a hook, organize a production, or edit a particular moment, tell us. You don’t have to wait for someone to explain every single decision. We’re interested in people who can look at a project and think, “I know how we could make this better.” Professionalism We expect respectful communication between everyone involved in a project. Different people will have different opinions, creative styles, and levels of experience. Disagreements are normal, but they should be handled professionally. We want a team environment where people can ask questions, share ideas, receive criticism, and improve without unnecessary drama. Software and Equipment Please mention the software you normally use when applying. For example, editors may use Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, After Effects, or other editing software. Writers may use Google Docs, Notion, Microsoft Word, or other writing and organization tools. Designers should mention the software they use for thumbnails and graphics. Producers and directors can mention project-management, communication, scheduling, or production tools they are comfortable using. You don’t need to use a specific program if your results are strong, but we would like to know what tools you’re comfortable with. Portfolio Your portfolio is one of the most important parts of your application. Please provide examples that are relevant to the position you’re applying for. If you’re an editor, show us edits that demonstrate pacing, storytelling, sound design, effects, and retention-focused editing. If you’re a writer, provide scripts or examples that demonstrate your ability to create strong hooks and engaging stories. If you’re a producer or director, show previous projects and explain what you personally contributed. If you’re a thumbnail designer, provide examples of YouTube thumbnails and explain the creative thinking behind them when appropriate. Trial Projects Depending on the position, we may begin with a smaller paid project or trial assignment. The purpose is to see how well we work together, how you handle feedback, how you communicate, and whether your style fits the channel. A successful trial can lead to additional projects and potentially a longer-term working relationship. Growth The channel is being built from the beginning, which means there will be opportunities to help shape the creative process. As the channel develops, responsibilities, production volume, and team structure may change. We’re interested in people who are comfortable growing with the project rather than expecting everything to already be perfectly established. What Success Looks Like A successful team member doesn’t simply finish their assignment. They help make the overall video better. That means understanding the objective, paying attention to details, communicating with the team, meeting deadlines, accepting feedback, and looking for opportunities to improve the final product. If everyone does that, the quality of the entire channel improves. What to Tell Us When submitting your proposal, please answer the following: 1. Which role are you applying for? 2. How long have you worked in that field? 3. How much YouTube experience do you have? 4. What type of content do you specialize in? 5. What software do you use? 6. What is your typical turnaround time? 7. What is your preferred rate? 8. Are you available for ongoing work? 9. What is one YouTube channel whose production style you think is particularly strong, and why? 10. Please provide your strongest relevant portfolio examples. We are interested in quality, consistency, creativity, and long-term collaboration. If you believe you can genuinely contribute to building something special, we want to see what you can do.
