Historical Researcher for Animated History YouTube Channel (Ongoing)
Worldwide
I run an animated history YouTube channel (think OverSimplified in style) and I'm looking for a researcher to work with on an ongoing basis, roughly 2–4 topics a month. The work - Each job is researching one full topic start to finish, "The Entire History of…" format: a whole war, revolution, or period, told chronologically with real historical figures. - You research it and hand me one organized, well-sourced document. My writer then builds the script from your document, so it needs to be something he can work from without doing any research of his own. What the document should contain - A clear, verified timeline: what happened, in what order, and why. - The key figures: who they were, what each one wanted, and what stood in their way (this is where the story's conflict comes from). - Interesting anecdotes, ironies, and details worth knowing, flagged as raw material. You point out why something is interesting; you don't write jokes or script anything, that's the writer's job. - A clear note on which claims are documented fact, which are legend, and which are genuinely debated among historians. - Common misconceptions people have about the topic, so we can avoid them. Format & sourcing - Around 8–12 pages, readable in about 30 minutes. - Full citations per point. Reliable secondary sources are fine (accredited historians, reputable public-history institutions); no deep primary-archive work needed. - Priority is covering the whole arc of the topic over going deep on any single event, the writer needs the full map so he can choose what to dramatize. - Depth reserved for the sensitive or genuinely disputed points (casualty figures, contested claims). Important: because the script is built directly from your document, accuracy on dates and figures matters. Anything you're not fully certain of, flag it so it can be double-checked rather than slip into the video. This is steady, recurring work for the right person, and the rate and scope can grow as we settle into a rhythm. To apply: please don't send a generic pitch. Include a page or two from a past research document so I can see how you structure and source your work (if it's confidential, a redacted or older sample is fine). And tell me briefly how you'd handle a point where historians genuinely disagree on the facts, that judgment matters a lot for this format.
