This is for a B2B SaaS + hardware company operating across multiple jurisdictions, is seeking an independent, experienced consolidation accountant to conduct a historical review of group-level intercompany eliminations and consolidation adjustments. This is a one-off, defined-scope engagement ideal for an experienced independent consultant looking for a focused project with clear deliverables. About the Group: Consolidation basis: IFRS, at the group level Consolidation software: Fathom Entity-level systems: Mix of Xero, QuickBooks, and Excel-based schedules Reporting frequency: Monthly, including both balance sheet and P&L eliminations, using a mix of automatic and manual elimination entries Scope of Work: The consultant will review historical group consolidation eliminations from 2019–2025, applying consistent depth of review across all years (the underlying elimination logic has remained materially the same throughout the period, notwithstanding some changes in process along the way). Specifically, the consultant will: 1. Validate historical eliminations — review whether intercompany eliminations (balance sheet and P&L) recorded at the consolidation level were correctly calculated and posted. 2. Identify additional issues — while the primary review is at that level (i.e., generally relying on the accuracy of each entity's standalone books), the consultant should also flag any misstatements at the entity level if discovered in the course of the review. For example, one known issue involves a mismatch in retained earnings roll-forward driven by differing fiscal close timing between entities (e.g., an entity with an April closing calendar vs. one that resets/closes in December vs. January) — the consultant should assess whether this and similar issues affect the accuracy of consolidated retained earnings, and identify any other discrepancies of this nature. 3. Provide remediation recommendations — practical suggestions to improve the consolidation and elimination process going forward, including process, controls, and any recommended changes to how automatic vs. manual eliminations are handled. Deliverables: - Reviewed and annotated consolidation work papers -A finalized view of the consolidated P&L and financial reports reflecting validated/corrected eliminations -A schedule of proposed adjusting journal entries (for any newly identified or revised adjustments) - A written report summarizing findings, validation results, and recommendations for improving the consolidation process going forward Timeline: Duration: Approximately 4–8 weeks, depending on findings and pace Start date: Flexible / to be discussed Format: Fully remote Candidate Profile: - We are looking for an independent individual consultant (not a firm) for this engagement to ensure direct, hands-on ownership of the work throughout. - CPA or equivalent recognized accounting certification - Minimum of 7 years of accounting experience, with direct experience in intercompany eliminations and multi-entity group consolidations. - Previous audit or assurance experience is highly desirable. - Comfort working across mixed-system environments (cloud accounting platforms, consolidation software, and Excel-based schedules) - Prior hands-on experience with Fathom is a plus; general consolidation software experience is also acceptable - Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify issues, propose adjustments, and provide practical recommendations.
