Industrial Designer for Premium Espresso Workstation & Tamper — BURR

Summary

BURR designs precision furniture for espresso. Not accessories. Not private label. Original, manufactured-to-spec products built in solid walnut, matte black stainless, brushed stainless, and matte black rubber — designed to sit on a counter the way a Leica sits in your hand. We're looking for an industrial designer to lead the design of two hero products: The Workstation — the foundation of the BURR ecosystem. Features a magnetic docking system (accessories snap into place with a tactile tick), a shadow float base that creates the illusion of hovering, and a front facet architect cut. This is the operating system everything else builds on. The Tamper — the launch product. Clean, deliberate, silhouette-first. Recognizable from across the room before you read the logo. This is ground-up original design work. We have a clear material palette, defined design language principles, and a logo interlock system already in development. We need a designer who can internalize that language and execute with precision — not someone who iterates on what already exists. What we need from you: Portfolio showing original consumer goods or kitchen/home products — not CAD renders of commodity items Demonstrated experience working with wood and metal combinations Ability to deliver production-ready 3D files (STEP/IGES) and technical drawings Sharp opinion on form — you should be able to articulate why a silhouette works Deliverables for this phase: mood board, design language document, workstation concepts, tamper final design, technical drawings, 3D STEP/IGES files. Timeline: 6–8 weeks Budget: $2,000–$3,500 Full brief shared after a short intro call. If your work already speaks for itself, apply with your portfolio and a one-paragraph note on why this project is a fit.
