Infrastructure Engineer – SCADA, Virtualization & Network Support Company: QuickITConsulting Engagement Type: Contract-to-Hire Work Arrangement: Remote Schedule: Must be available during U.S. business hours and scheduled maintenance windows Job Overview QuickITConsulting is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to provide backend infrastructure and networking support for critical solar plant, SCADA, engineering, and operational technology systems. This is a hands-on contract-to-hire opportunity focused on supporting virtualization, servers, storage, backups, LAN infrastructure, firewalls, and network connectivity across hybrid IT and OT environments. The ideal candidate can work independently, troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues, communicate clearly with U.S.-based teams, and support systems where reliability directly affects solar plant operations. Responsibilities Provide backend infrastructure support for solar plant, SCADA, engineering, and OT systems. Administer and troubleshoot VMware ESXi, vCenter, Microsoft Hyper-V, virtual machines, clusters, and shared storage. Support LAN environments, including switches, VLANs, subnetting, routing, DNS, and network segmentation. Configure and troubleshoot firewalls, access rules, NAT, VPNs, and communication paths between IT and OT systems. Monitor infrastructure performance, availability, capacity, backup status, and system health. Support Veeam Backup & Replication, restores, backup validation, retention, and disaster recovery testing. Troubleshoot incidents across virtualization, servers, operating systems, storage, backup, and networking layers. Participate in incident response, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and service restoration. Support scheduled U.S. maintenance windows, plant outage activities, patching, and infrastructure upgrades. Maintain network diagrams, recovery procedures, system configurations, operating procedures, and incident documentation. Coordinate with U.S.-based infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, SCADA, engineering, and operations teams. Automate infrastructure tasks using PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform, or equivalent tools. Follow cybersecurity, change-management, access-control, and compliance requirements. Ability to troubleshoot across server, storage, virtualization, and networking layers. Experience supporting high-availability or business-critical systems. Understanding of SCADA, industrial, energy, manufacturing, or regulated environments. Familiarity with IT/OT network segmentation and cybersecurity principles. Ability to work during U.S. business hours and scheduled maintenance windows. Strong written and spoken English. Ability to communicate effectively with U.S.-based technical and business teams. Ability to work independently and take ownership within a small technical team. Reliable internet connection and a professional remote-work environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting solar plants, SCADA systems, industrial control systems, or operational technology. Familiarity with NERC CIP, NIST, CIS, or similar compliance frameworks. Experience supporting geographically distributed sites. Experience with AWS, Azure, GCP, or hybrid cloud infrastructure. Knowledge of recovery-point objectives, recovery-time objectives, backup testing, and business continuity planning.
