# Interior Design for a Premium Educational Institute – Approx. 5,500 sq. ft. We are looking for an experienced interior designer/architect to design a **premium educational institute of approximately 5,500 sq. ft.** The institute is focused on senior secondary students preparing for highly competitive university entrance examinations. The vision is to create a modern, sophisticated and aspirational learning environment that is very different from a conventional school or tuition centre. We want the overall experience to feel closer to a **premium university learning space, modern library and high-end coworking environment**. The space will primarily be divided into three zones: ## 1. Reception, Admissions & Administration – Approx. 1,200–1,500 sq. ft. This is the first experience students and parents will have when entering the institute, so it needs to establish a strong premium identity. We would ideally like to allocate **1,200–1,500 sq. ft. to this zone, with preference for a larger and more spacious reception experience if the overall layout permits.** The area should include: • Reception and enquiry desk • Dedicated admissions area • Comfortable lounges for parents, students and visitors • Small open café / refreshment area for parents and visitors • Administrative/work rooms • Appropriate storage and circulation areas The admissions experience is particularly important. Parents may spend considerable time here discussing programs, meeting the team or completing the admission process, so the space should feel comfortable, premium and welcoming rather than like a conventional office reception. ## 2. Classrooms We require **3 classrooms, each accommodating approximately 30 students.** The classrooms should be contemporary, comfortable and visually consistent with the overall premium character of the institute. We are open to the designer proposing the most effective classroom configuration based on the available floor plan and overall space allocation. ## 3. Open Study Hall – Approx. 120 Students This will be the **main feature and design highlight of the institute.** We want to create a large, completely open learning environment accommodating approximately **120 students**. **There should be no rooms or enclosed spaces within the study hall.** Mentor interactions will also happen within this open environment rather than in separate mentor rooms. The objective is not simply to place 120 desks in a large room. We want the designer to creatively use the entire space to create multiple styles of seating and studying while maintaining a strong sense of openness and comfort. Potential seating concepts can include: • Conventional individual study desks where appropriate • Collaborative tables • High tables and high-chair seating • Lounge-style seating • Bean bags and relaxed study areas • Round seating integrated around structural pillars, potentially with individual lap tables • Vertical / wall-integrated stepped seating • Built-in seating along walls and otherwise underutilised areas • Other creative, space-efficient study configurations proposed by the designer ### Space Optimisation Is a Major Priority Structural pillars should **not simply be treated as obstacles**. We would like them incorporated creatively into the design, particularly through integrated seating, work surfaces or other functional elements. Similarly, walls, corners and other potential dead spaces should be actively considered as opportunities for seating or student use. The aim is to achieve approximately **120 comfortable study positions without making the space feel like it contains 120 seats.** Walkways and circulation need to be carefully optimised. We want to minimise unnecessary circulation and dead space while still ensuring students can move comfortably throughout the study hall. The final environment should feel: **Open. Spacious. Comfortable. Energetic. Premium.** Even at full occupancy, it should avoid feeling crowded or institutional. ## Overall Design Direction The aesthetic we are looking for can broadly be described as: **Premium University × Modern Library × High-End Coworking Space** We do **not** want the space to resemble a conventional school, tuition centre or densely packed educational facility. The design should combine a strong visual identity with intelligent space planning. Since the institute will be used heavily by students every day, materials and furniture should also be practical, durable and easy to maintain. ## Scope of Work We would ideally like the designer to provide: • Complete space planning and zoning • Detailed furniture and seating layouts • Interior design concept and mood board • Material and finish recommendations • Lighting design • Ceiling and flooring concepts • Detailed 3D visualisations / renders • Working drawings required for execution • Furniture, fixture and built-in seating specifications The existing floor plan, dimensions, photographs and other site information will be shared with shortlisted designers. ## Who We're Looking For We are particularly interested in designers with experience in **premium educational spaces, universities, libraries, coworking spaces, modern offices, student environments or similar commercial interiors.** When applying, please share projects from your portfolio that demonstrate your ability to design: • Large open-plan spaces • Creative and unconventional seating environments • Space-efficient commercial interiors • Premium learning, coworking or collaborative environments We are looking for a designer who can **challenge the obvious layout and bring creative space-planning ideas to the project**, particularly for the 120-student open study hall. The study hall will ultimately be the heart of the institute, and we want it to become a distinctive space that students genuinely enjoy spending time in.
