Summary

# Interior Designer \+ D5 Render Artist – Kitchen / Living / Dining Design Concepts We’re building a contemporary custom home in Australia and are looking for an interior designers who works in D5 Render to help us explore different interior design ideas for the heart of the home. This project is about developing interior design concepts, not simply producing renders. We’re looking for someone with a strong design eye who can create interiors through thoughtful choices of furniture, materials, lighting, colours, artwork and styling. This is intended to be the first stage of a larger collaboration. We’ll engage several designers for this phase, then continue working with the designer(s) whose approach best aligns with our vision. # Available Material We’ll provide: * OBJ model of the house that we've confirmed imports into R5 cleanly * Architectural floor plans (PDF) The furniture and finishes currently shown in the model are placeholders only and should be ignored. Because we intend to continue developing the selected concepts ourselves, editable D5 project files are an essential deliverable. # Project Objective This project covers only the Kitchen / Living / Dining space. We’d like you to develop at least three distinct interior design schemes, each expressing a clearly different design direction, material palette and atmosphere. For each scheme, we’d also like to see one rapid exploration demonstrating how the idea could evolve through different furniture, styling, artwork, lighting or material selections. These explorations should reuse the same underlying scheme and are not intended to be complete redesigns. Think of them as quickly exploring different possibilities while retaining the overall design direction. Our goal is to understand both your design thinking and how you develop ideas. We value breadth of thinking more than incremental variations of the same idea. # Design Direction We’re deliberately looking for breadth of ideas. Rather than trying to find “the correct” design, we’d like to explore several genuinely different approaches to the space. While we’re intentionally leaving the creative direction open, we’re generally drawn to interiors that feel: * Warm rather than cold * Calm rather than busy * Light and airy rather than heavy * Timeless rather than trendy * Comfortable and inviting * Connected to the surrounding landscape * Understated rather than showy * Luxurious without feeling ostentatious Some materials and colours we’re naturally drawn to include: * Natural timber * Natural stone * Textured fabrics * Soft earthy neutrals * Muted greens (particularly sage and olive tones) * Carefully chosen accent colours where appropriate Please don’t feel constrained by these preferences. We’d much rather see three genuinely different design ideas than three versions of the same room. # Understanding the Space The Kitchen / Living / Dining area is the social heart of the home. The living and dining areas have 4.5 metre ceilings with clerestory windows bringing natural light from the north and east. To the north, large stacking glass doors open onto a deck overlooking native trees (predominantly eucalyptus). To the south, the room connects to an outdoor entertaining area, pool and spa. A landscaped courtyard sits beside the dining room. There is no television in this space. During winter the fireplace becomes the primary focal point. We’d like the interior design to respond to these architectural qualities rather than simply filling the room with furniture. # Current Ideas (Not Requirements) These are simply ideas we’ve discussed during the architectural design process. Please don’t feel constrained by them. * Built-in fish tank between the entry and dining room. * Large feature artwork beside the fish tank. * Freestanding or built-in fireplace. * Four bar stools at the island. * Dining table for eight. * Pendant lighting above the kitchen island. * Linear pendant above the dining table. * Two ceiling fans integrated into the overall ceiling design. * Decorative lighting in the living area. * Timber or tiled flooring. * Rugs defining the living spaces. * Indoor plants/tree where appropriate. * If you think a different solution better suits the house, we’d love to see it. # Creative Freedom We’re interested in your design judgement. If you think changes to the furniture layout, fireplace, ceiling treatment, lighting strategy or styling would significantly improve the space, we’d love to see those ideas. Original thinking is encouraged. # Assets Please don’t feel limited by the D5 Asset Library. Feel free to use purchased assets wherever they meaningfully improve the concepts. We’ll reimburse up to US$200 in purchased assets with receipts. If you believe additional assets would significantly improve the outcome, simply ask us beforehand. # Deliverables For each of the three interior design schemes, please provide: * Fully editable D5 Render project * 2–3 rendered views that clearly communicate the scheme For each rapid exploration: * Updated D5 project * 1–2 rendered views showing the key differences These renders are intended to communicate design concepts. They do not need to be final marketing-quality architectural visualisations. Please also include a list of any purchased assets together with receipts for reimbursement. # Decision Process We’ll be commissioning several designers independently for this phase. Every designer engaged through Upwork will be paid in full for this phase regardless of whether they are selected for the ongoing collaboration. After reviewing the submissions, we’ll provide consolidated feedback and may request one round of refinement before selecting the designer(s) we’d like to continue working with. # Future Work The successful designer(s) will be invited to continue developing: * Lounge * Master Ensuite * Bedrooms * Bathrooms * Outdoor living areas * The remainder of the house We’re looking to build an ongoing working relationship with someone who enjoys creating thoughtful, high-quality residential interiors.
