I’m looking for an experienced interior designer to help redesign a professional office reception/waiting area and improve storage systems throughout the space. This is not just a decorating project. The main goal is to create a practical, attractive, and buildable design that improves daily workflow while giving the office a more polished and professional feel. Project Overview The office has an existing reception/front desk area with multiple staff members working at the front. There is also a structural column within the reception area that needs to be incorporated into the design. Because of the layout constraints and the amount of storage needed, I believe the best solution may involve custom-built pieces, including: * A redesigned reception desk * Built-in storage systems * Package sorting/storage area * Additional hallway or back-office storage solutions I already have access to a contractor/carpenter who can build custom cabinetry or built-ins, so the design should be practical enough for a contractor to execute. Scope of Work Phase 1 – Space Planning & Design Concept Create an overall design direction for the office, including: * 2D furniture/layout plan * Reception area layout * Waiting area layout * Storage planning * Mood boards for materials, finishes, and overall design direction * Preliminary custom reception desk concept * Preliminary custom storage system concepts The mood boards should focus less on ready-made furniture and more on materials, finishes, architectural details, and how the space should feel. Phase 2 – Final Design Package Once the design direction is approved, prepare a final package that includes: * 3D visualization of the reception and waiting area * Final sketches for custom-built elements * Overall dimensions and design recommendations * Shopping list for any purchased items * Notes that my contractor can use to understand and build the custom pieces The drawings do not need to be full fabrication/shop drawings, but they should be detailed enough to clearly communicate the concept, proportions, dimensions, and intended materials. Ideal Candidate The ideal freelancer will have experience with: * Office or commercial interior design * Reception desk design * Custom built-ins or cabinetry planning * Storage optimization * Space planning for functional work environments * Creating practical designs that can actually be built Experience with medical, home care, professional services, or administrative office spaces would be a plus. What I’ll Provide * Video walkthrough of the office * Photos of the reception/waiting area * Photos of storage areas * Measurements as needed * Notes on how staff currently use the space * Feedback throughout the process When Applying Please include: 1. Examples of office, reception, or commercial interior design projects. 2. Any experience designing custom desks, built-ins, cabinetry, or storage systems. 3. Your approach to balancing appearance with day-to-day functionality. 4. Your estimated timeline and fixed-price proposal. I’m looking for someone who can make the office look more professional while also solving real workflow and storage issues.
