Investment Reporting Review for Personal Finance Product

Summary

We are seeking a financial professional to review investment reporting for a personal finance product. The project involves evaluating reporting accuracy, identifying gaps, and recommending improvements to ensure clarity and reliability for users. This is a fixed-fee engagement expected to last about 4 weeks, with a focus on delivering a clear, actionable review and supporting recommendations. Affordia is an AI financial analyst for households — it connects a family’s accounts (read-only), finds concrete cost-savings and income opportunities, and presents them as impersonal, source-attributed scenarios with the underlying math shown. It is financial education software: it is not a registered investment adviser, it does not manage assets, and it does not make personalized securities recommendations. Our beachhead is mass-affluent households aged 60 to 75, most of them already working with an advisor and living off a portfolio. Until now the product has read spending accounts. We are now building the reports that get produced when a household connects a brokerage or retirement account — cost of ownership, income and cash, portfolio composition, and required distributions. We have drafted an initial library of those reports. We are engaging a practicing advisor on a fixed-fee, milestone-gated contract to tell us where that library is wrong: what a real client would open twice, what they would never open at all, what we have missed entirely, and what each report must contain to survive a conversation with a professional. The constraint you would be working inside, stated plainly. Affordia does not recommend buying, selling, or holding any security, does not propose an allocation, and does not rank one fund above another. Every output is either arithmetic on the household’s own data or a comparison against a published figure with the source named. The task is to make the reports more useful within that constraint. If you believe the product should be making recommendations, this is not the right engagement, and we would rather establish that in week one than in week three. You would work directly with the founder and alongside our wealth advisor and our compliance advisor. This is written work: four deliverables and one call, with no client contact, no asset management, and no product or software experience required. We are buying advisory judgment, not implementation. Remote. US-based advisors preferred, given how much of this turns on US retirement account mechanics. One 45-minute call during US Pacific business hours. Deliverables & Milestones (use Upwork’s milestone structure — funds in escrow before start) Total engagement value $500 across three milestones. We estimate 6 to 8 hours of work in total, spread across four weeks on your own schedule. We will send you the draft report library on day one; everything you need to begin is in that document. Milestone 1 — Gap and Redundancy Review · $150 · Week 1 Read the draft report library and tell us what a practicing advisor would add, drop, or merge. What do retirees consistently ask you for that is missing here? What have we included that looks impressive and would never be opened a second time? Where are two reports really one report? Acceptance: a written review of two to three pages, addressing each of the four report families by name. Milestone 2 — Priority Ranking and Field Specification · $200 · Weeks 2–3 Rank every report in the library by value to a mass-affluent household aged 60 to 75, with your reasoning for each placement — not just the order but why one sits above another. Then, for your top five: specify every field the report must contain to be usable in a real client conversation, and name the published source each comparison should draw on. Acceptance: a ranked list with reasoning, plus a field-level specification for five reports delivered as a table or structured list. Milestone 3 — Review Call and Closing Memo · $150 · Week 4 One 45-minute video call with the founder to walk through your findings and answer questions, followed by a one-page memo capturing open questions and anything you would flag before we build. Acceptance: call completed and memo delivered.
