Japanese Editorial Designer / Document Layout Designer

We are looking for a Japanese Editorial Designer to assist with the layout and formatting of a Japanese publication. The initial project involves approximately 30 pages of Japanese text, using an existing English Apple Pages template as the starting point. This is an hourly contract, and there is potential for additional projects in the future. [Responsibilities] ・Adapt an existing English document layout to Japanese text ・Maintain consistent chapter and section headings ・Apply professional Japanese typography and spacing ・Format pull quotes and other editorial elements ・Ensure clean page breaks and overall readability ・Deliver a polished, publication-quality document [Requirements] ・Native or near-native Japanese reading ability ・Experience with editorial, publication, or book design ・Strong understanding of Japanese typography and document layout ・Ability to work with long-form documents ・Portfolio demonstrating editorial, book, magazine, report, or publication design work [Preferred Qualifications] ・Experience with Apple Pages ・Experience with Adobe InDesign or similar layout software ・Experience adapting English layouts for Japanese content We are looking for someone who values clean typography, consistent formatting, and high-quality editorial design.
