Japanese QA Specialist for a Language Learning App

Summary We are an AI language learning app. As a rapidly growing company, we are expanding our localization team and need passionate, language-obsessed individuals to ensure our app resonates perfectly with JP users who want to learn English. Currently we are looking for a native JP speaker to QA our app for design, language, and UX issues. We need a detail-oriented QA specialist who can evaluate the app the way a JP user would — catching translation issues, awkward phrasing, layout bugs caused by text length differences, and anything that feels off culturally or linguistically. What you'll be doing - Testing the app as a JP speaking user - Flagging linguistic issues: mistranslations, unnatural phrasing, grammar errors, tone inconsistencies - Catching UI/UX problems: text overflow, truncation, alignment issues specific to JP text - Reviewing the overall experience for cultural fit and clarity for a JP audience - Logging issues clearly with screenshots and severity - Doing a final pass to verify fixes before we close out the project What we need from you - Native JP speaker with native-level English - Experience teaching EN to JP speakers - Prior QA or testing experience, preferably on a mobile or web app - Strong attention to detail — you notice things others miss - Available for ~25 hours/week for around 3 weeks - Familiarity with tools like, Notion & Lokalise
