Rare Opportunity for Sharp-Eyed Word Nerds Now Hiring: Spanish Translators (Spain) & Spanish Proofreaders (LATAM) Are you passionate about fiction and the craft of language? Do you enjoy polishing prose until it reads naturally and effortlessly? We’re a fast-growing literary translation and publishing team currently expanding our Spanish department, and we are looking for experienced professionals to join us. We are building a small, reliable team consisting of: • Spanish Translators (Spain / Castilian Spanish) • Spanish Proofreaders (Latin America) Language Pairs We are specifically looking for professionals working with the following language pairs: German → Spanish (DE → ES) English → Spanish (EN → ES) Our books are primarily aimed at Spanish readers, while remaining accessible to Latin American audiences as well. About the Work You will work on full-length novels translated into Spanish. Genres include: • Fantasy • Romance / Romantasy • Thrillers • Contemporary fiction Our goal is to produce Spanish editions that read natural, fluent, and engaging, while preserving the author’s voice and narrative style. Important: Literary Experience Required We are specifically looking for professionals with experience in literary translation or literary proofreading. Experience working with fiction (novels, short stories, literary texts) is required. Applications focused primarily on technical, legal, or marketing translation are unfortunately not suitable for this role. Role 1: Spanish Translator (Spain) You will: • Translate novels from German or English into Spanish • Write in natural Castilian Spanish • Capture narrative tone and character voice • Maintain consistency in terminology and style • Collaborate with editors and proofreaders Requirements: • Native Spanish (Spain) • Strong proficiency in German or English • Proven literary translation experience • Experience translating long-form fiction • Strong sense for narrative flow, tone, and style Role 2: Spanish Proofreader (Latin America) You will: • Proofread translated manuscripts for clarity, flow, and naturalness • Correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and stylistic issues • Ensure the text reads smoothly across Spanish-speaking audiences • Flag inconsistencies or unclear passages • Suggest improvements while preserving the author’s voice Requirements: • Native Spanish from Latin America • Experience proofreading literary fiction • Excellent stylistic judgment and attention to detail • Confidence working with Microsoft Word (Track Changes) or Google Docs Bonus: • Experience working with translated texts • Basic knowledge of German is a plus, as some projects originate from German manuscripts Tools & Workflow You will work with: • Microsoft Word (Track Changes) • Google Docs • Structured editorial workflows • Collaborative international teams What We Offer • Regular book-length projects • Work on engaging fiction across multiple genres • Remote work and flexible scheduling • Long-term collaboration opportunities • A friendly international publishing team that values quality and creativity How to Apply Please send: • Your resume • A short introduction about your literary translation or proofreading experience • Your country of residence (Spain or Latin America) • Relevant literary samples if available Important: Please include the word “fiction” in your application so we know you have read the full description.
