Summary

LANDSCAPE DESIGNER AND AUTOCAD DRAFTER We are looking for a skilled landscape designer who can personally design, draft, revise, and complete professional landscape plan sets in AutoCAD. This is a direct contributor role. We are not looking for a project manager, agency, outsourcing coordinator, or someone who passes the production work to another designer. The person communicating with our team should be the same person completing the drawings. ABOUT THE ROLE You will work on residential and commercial landscape projects, primarily in Colorado. The work includes landscape design, planting design, construction documentation, revisions, and coordination with our design build team. We are looking for someone who enjoys working inside the drawings, solving design problems, developing thoughtful planting plans, and carrying projects through to complete and usable documents. WHAT YOU WILL DO • Personally develop residential and commercial landscape plans in AutoCAD • Create planting designs suited to Colorado climate, soils, water conditions, wind, elevation, and seasonal change • Select appropriate trees, shrubs, grasses, perennials, and groundcovers • Produce landscape plans, planting plans, irrigation plans, hardscape layouts, grading coordination, and construction details • Revise your own drawings based on design, client, and construction feedback • Follow our established standards for layers, lineweights, blocks, dimension styles, sheet layouts, and plotting • Prepare clean, organized, plot ready drawing sets with clear notes and annotation • Coordinate directly with our designers, estimators, project managers, and construction team • Communicate progress consistently, identify questions early, and meet agreed deadlines • Apply feedback carefully and improve through our training process THIS IS A DIRECT CONTRIBUTOR ROLE You will be expected to personally complete the design and drafting work. This is not a role for someone who primarily manages a production team, assigns work to other designers, or acts as a communication layer between our team and the person doing the work. We want to work directly with the designer responsible for the drawings. The person attending meetings, receiving feedback, discussing timelines, and answering questions should be the same person completing the plans. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR • Strong knowledge of planting design for Colorado or a similar western United States climate • The ability to create planting plans for both residential and commercial projects • A practical understanding of water wise design, climate adapted plants, seasonal interest, mature plant size, maintenance needs, and plant availability • Professional AutoCAD skills and disciplined file organization • Experience producing landscape construction documents and complete plan sets • Familiarity with grading concepts, drainage, hardscape layout, irrigation planning, and construction detailing • Clear written and verbal communication • The ability to ask useful questions, confirm expectations, and report progress without being chased • A willingness to work within an established drawing standard • Strong ownership of quality before work is submitted • Comfort collaborating directly with a landscape design and construction team WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE You produce drawings that designers, estimators, project managers, and construction teams can understand and use without sorting through unnecessary confusion. Your planting plans are attractive, buildable, appropriate for the site, and grounded in the realities of Colorado. You communicate early when information is missing or a deadline may be affected. You take feedback directly, make the revisions yourself, and remain accountable for the final quality of the work. You care about the details while still understanding timelines and keeping the work moving. TO APPLY Please include the following in your application: • A short introduction describing your landscape design experience • A description of your planting design experience in Colorado or a similar climate • Confirmation that you will personally complete the design and AutoCAD work • A description of how you keep AutoCAD files, layers, xrefs, blocks, sheets, and plotting organized • Two or three sample plan sheets, or a PDF portfolio showing recent AutoCAD landscape work • At least one planting plan that demonstrates plant selection, composition, spacing, and documentation • Your typical turnaround time for revisions • How you communicate project status and potential delays • Your hourly rate • Your weekly availability • A brief description of how you set up a new AutoCAD project • A description of any other people who would have access to or work on our projects We are looking for someone who combines design judgment, Colorado planting knowledge, technical precision, and dependable communication. Most importantly, we want someone who enjoys doing the work, takes ownership of it, and wants to become a reliable part of the team.
