Lead Full Stack React Native Engineer (Consumer Marketplace Startup)

About Us We are building a consumer marketplace app that helps people monetize their free time by meeting others through real-life activities. Think marketplace + social + trust & safety + payments. The product includes user profiles, activities, booking flows, chat, subscriptions, referrals, identity verification, ratings, geolocation, and payments. We are looking for a highly experienced Lead Full Stack React Native Engineer to become our first technical hire and help build the product from the ground up. This is a long-term, full-time position. --- Your Role You will be responsible for leading the technical architecture and development of the mobile application. You will work directly with the founder and our product designer to transform detailed Figma designs into a production-ready application. You will also participate in technical decision-making, infrastructure planning, and the hiring process of our future Senior Backend Engineer. This is not an execution-only role. We are looking for someone who can make strong technical recommendations and take ownership of the product's architecture. --- Responsibilities - Lead the architecture and development of the React Native application - Build and maintain scalable mobile features - Work closely with our designer to implement pixel-perfect UI - Define technical architecture and engineering standards - Help select and integrate third-party services - Collaborate on infrastructure and backend architecture decisions - Review code and maintain high engineering quality standards - Participate in recruiting and interviewing future engineering hires - Prepare and manage App Store and Google Play releases --- Required Experience - Strong React Native experience - Strong TypeScript experience - Experience building and shipping multiple production mobile apps - Experience publishing apps on both iOS and Android - Experience working on products with real users - Experience designing and consuming APIs - Strong understanding of scalable application architecture - Excellent written and spoken English --- Highly Desired Experience Experience with some or all of the following: - Marketplace products - Social applications - Dating applications - Stripe Connect - Real-time chat systems - Push notifications - Geolocation features - Subscription systems - Referral systems - Trust & Safety systems - Identity verification integrations - AWS - PostgreSQL - Node.js - NestJS --- Technology Stack (Current Direction) - React Native - TypeScript - Node.js - NestJS - PostgreSQL - AWS - Stripe Connect We are open to recommendations from the right candidate. --- To Apply Please answer the screening questions.
