Lead List Builder, research UK local businesses on Google (ongoing work)
Worldwide
Overview I run a UK marketing agency. I need someone reliable to build lists of local trade businesses by researching them on Google, and to record simple details about each one in a Google Sheet. This is not cold calling or emailing. It is pure research. You find the businesses, check their Google profile and website, and log what you see. Accuracy matters more than speed. This is ongoing work with steady lists each week for the right person. What you will deliver A Google Sheet, one row per business, with these columns filled in for every business: Business name Town or area Phone number Website URL, or write NONE if they have no website Google rating, for example 4.7 Number of Google reviews, for example 12 Google Maps profile link Where you found them, write either Maps, or Google page 2, page 3, and so on Notes, using only the tags from the tag list further down Target is 100 different businesses per trade, per area, unless the area is too small to hold that many, in which case get as many as genuinely exist. Do not pad the list with businesses from outside the area or the wrong trade just to reach 100. Where to search, exact steps Do all searches in an incognito or private browser window, not logged in to Google, using google.co.uk. Always put the UK town in the search itself, for example "kitchen fitters in Bath". This makes sure you get results for my target area and not for wherever you are based. Search 1, Google Maps. Open Google Maps. Search the trade and town, for example "kitchen fitters in Bath UK". Scroll the whole results list from top to bottom. Record every independent local business you see. Search 2, Google normal results. Open a normal Google search, google.co.uk. Search the trade and town, for example "kitchen fitters in Bath". Ignore page 1 completely. Do not record anything from page 1. Start at page 2 and work through to page 8. Record each result that is a real individual business with its own website. Why skip page 1. The businesses on page 1 already rank well and usually already have good websites, so they are not who I want. The businesses I want are the good ones hiding on pages 2 to 8 with weak websites. This is the whole point of the job, so please do not "helpfully" add page 1 businesses. Run each trade with a few different search phrases and remove duplicates. The phrases for each trade are listed at the bottom. Which businesses to include and skip Include: independent local businesses in the target trade and area. Skip: National chains and big brands with branches all over the UK. Examples to skip: Wren Kitchens, Howdens, Magnet, B&Q, Wickes, Everest, Anglian, Safestyle, British Gas. If it is a household-name national brand, skip it. Directory websites shown in the results, such as Yell, Checkatrade, Trustatrader, Bark, Houzz, Rated People. These are not businesses, do not add them as rows. You can still record the individual businesses listed inside them if they are local and in the trade. Duplicates. The same business found in both Maps and Google is one row, not two. Businesses clearly in a different trade, or clearly outside the target area. When you are unsure whether to include a business, include it and tag it. Do not skip it. I would rather filter a few extra than miss a good one. How to check each business and fill the Notes column For each business, open their Google Business Profile and their website, then add the right tags in the Notes column. Use only these tags. You can use more than one, separated by commas, for example: ONE PAGE, OLD, FEW REVIEWS. NO WEBSITE, no website at all FACEBOOK ONLY, their only web presence is a Facebook page ONE PAGE, the website is a single page THIN, only a few pages with very little information OLD, dated design, or an old year in the footer copyright, for example 2016 BROKEN, pages do not load properly, missing images, broken links, error messages BASIC, looks like an unfinished free template rather than a proper website NO CONTACT FORM, no enquiry form anywhere, only a phone number NOT MOBILE FRIENDLY, looks broken or tiny when you open it on a phone GOOD SITE, a modern professional well-built website. Still add the business, just tag it so I can filter it out. FEW REVIEWS, fewer than 15 Google reviews NO GBP, you could not find a Google Business Profile for them at all If a business has a website, put the full web address in the Website URL column even when you also tag it OLD or BROKEN. Only write NONE when there truly is no website. Example row Business name: Bath Kitchen Company. Town: Bath. Phone:xxxx xxxxxxx. Website: www.example.co.uk. Rating: 4.8. Reviews: 9. Maps link: [link]. Where found: Google page 3. Notes: ONE PAGE, OLD, FEW REVIEWS. Volume, delivery and pay Target: 100 businesses per trade, per area. Delivery: [state your pace, for example one list of 100 per working day]. Pay: [state your rate, for example hourly, or a fixed price per completed 100-row list]. Quality check I will spot-check 10 random rows from each list. I check that the phone number is right, the website tag matches what I see, it is not a chain, not a duplicate, and it is in the right area. If more than 2 of the 10 are wrong, the list comes back for fixing before it is approved. Please double-check your own rows before sending. How to apply To apply, complete this short paid test. Build 15 rows for "bathroom fitters in [your test town]" following the instructions above, in a Google Sheet, and share the link. I will not consider applications without the test sheet. Start your application with the word BLUEPRINT so I know you have read this properly. Applications that do not start with that word will be ignored.
