Lead Product Designer & Front-End Engineer

We're open session, a design company building a design system tool for the future of work. Our mission is to help the world make the most of design and technology. We're building BOS, an AI platform that keeps every creative workflow on-brand. The product is already designed and largely mocked up. We need a senior design engineer to take it from Figma and Paper mocks into shipped, production-grade front-end, working alongside a forward-deployed AI engineer. You own the visual quality end to end, and you understand the architecture underneath it. **This is a design engineer role, not a mockups role:** - Ship the already-designed surfaces into pixel-accurate, responsive, themed **React 19 / Next.js 16** - Understand the full data layer, not just the surface: not only wiring to the **FastAPI** API (data fetching, streaming AI chat over SSE), but **Supabase**, **pgvector** multimodal embeddings, and the schema behind them - Help shape architecture in an **AI-native codebase** built for rapid development, with real **cloud** and **CI/CD** fluency - Own and extend a real **design system**: semantic tokens, React Aria primitives, variants, dark/light, Storybook - Bring static mocks to life with motion and micro-interactions, and hold the accessibility bar **Our stack:** React 19 / Next.js 16 / TypeScript on Vercel · Tailwind CSS 4 + semantic design tokens · React Aria Components + Untitled UI Pro · Supabase (Postgres + pgvector) · Storybook + Playwright visual regression · TanStack Query / Zustand · Vercel AI SDK over SSE. **Must have:** - **Ships production front-end code** (React/Next.js/TypeScript), not just Figma mockups and prototypes - **Design systems at scale**: tokens, accessible component primitives, variants, theming, Storybook - **Figma + Paper Design** fluency, translating high-fidelity mocks into production - **Tailwind CSS** + token-driven styling, pixel-accurate and responsive - **Architecturally fluent**: Supabase, pgvector / multimodal embeddings, cloud concepts, and core CI/CD workflows, comfortable building in an AI-native codebase - **Claude Code power user**, current: VS Code + Cursor, comfortable in the CLI, Claude Code best practices for build and CI/CD - **Accessibility**: WCAG, keyboard, screen-reader correctness **Strong plus:** motion/interaction (Framer Motion, GSAP) · MCP · visual-regression testing · streaming AI UIs · a portfolio of polished products you both designed and shipped. **To apply:** Send a portfolio or 2-3 examples of work you both **designed and shipped to production** (link the live product and, ideally, the code or your front-end role), plus a few sentences on how you actually use Claude Code day-to-day.
