Lead Service‑Page Copywriter For Law Firms (Legal Background Required)
Worldwide
This role is paid at 15 AUD/hr (≈10 USD/hr). Please only apply if you’re happy with this rate for 10–20 hrs/week to start. 📌 About The Role I’m a former lawyer and now run a specialist law‑firm SEO & website agency based in Sydney, Australia. This role **requires a legal background** (law degree, ex‑lawyer, or substantial legal content experience). Please don’t apply if your experience is mainly generic marketing copy – this is for someone who can think like a lawyer and write like a clear, calm professional. We rebuild and grow websites for boutique law firms and regulated advisory practices. Our clients operate in complex, regulated areas of law and expect measured, authoritative service‑page copy – not hype or fluff. Right now I still write all **service‑page copy** myself. I’m hiring **one person** to train up as our **Lead Service‑Page Copywriter**: you’ll start hands‑on with my direct support, then grow into owning this function long‑term. This is **not** a one‑off gig. It’s a path to become the person who owns service‑page copy across all clients. --- ✍️ What You’ll Do - Draft and refine **service‑page copy** for law firms and regulated advisory practices, across areas like: - Corporate & commercial - Banking & finance / private lenders - Property / development / funds - AFSL/ACL licensing & compliance - AML/CTF, private clients, other complex advisory work - Work from: - Structured briefs and intake forms - Competitor pages and reference materials - Call notes and client emails - Use an existing **AI‑assisted workflow** (no blank page) to: - Generate an outline and first draft - Edit into legally accurate, skimmable, conversion‑focused copy - Keep to a consistent structure (hero, who we act for, services, process, why us, team, education, FAQ, etc.). - Turn founder feedback into **checklists, patterns and mini‑SOPs** so the system improves over time. - Collaborate with the web delivery and content teams so copy, design and SEO all line up. Over time, you become the person who says: **“This is how we do service pages here”** – and you help train others to that standard. --- 📈 Support & Growth (Leadership Track) You’ll get: - **1:1 mentoring from me** (founder, ex‑lawyer): Looms, annotated edits, and clear standards on what “good” looks like. - Access to our existing **AI workflows and templates** – you’re improving a working system, not inventing it from scratch. - A clear path to: - Own the **service‑page function** end‑to‑end, - Influence how law‑firm services are positioned across multiple firms, - Later help brief/QA additional writers if we add them. I don’t expect you to be perfect on day one. I do expect you to care about precision, structure, and learning the standard. --- ✅ Requirements **Must have:** - Law degree, prior legal practice, or substantial **legal content writing** experience. - Strong experience writing **legal or professional‑services content** (articles, guides, practice‑area pages, etc.). - Excellent written English; calm, plain‑English, professional tone (no hype, no clichés). - High attention to detail; comfortable working from detailed checklists and structured feedback. - Ability to work independently and hit deadlines without drama. **Nice to have (bonus, not required):** - Experience with **Australian law firms** or niche, regulated financial / advisory legal practice areas (think banking, finance, AML/CTF, private lending, private client, strategic residency etc). - Experience using AI tools within your writing process (and clear ideas on what AI should vs should not do). --- 💰 Hours, Rate & Structure - Start **part‑time**: approx **10–20 hours per week** (paid test + initial projects). - If we work well together and pipeline supports it, this can grow into a **full‑time, long‑term** role owning service‑page copy. - Remote contractor role with stable, ongoing work if performance is strong. - Rate: The rate for this role is $15 AUD per hour (paid in USD equivalent). We’re looking for someone who wants **one main home** and a clear craft to master – not 20 tiny clients. --- Here’s a revised “📥 How To Apply” that matches the 5 screening questions you set in Upwork: --- 📥 How To Apply Please answer the screening questions in full. They cover: 1. **Your legal background** – degrees, jurisdictions, practice or legal content roles, and main areas of law you’ve written about. 2. **Writing samples** – 2–3 links to legal or professional‑services work (ideally service pages), with a note on whether you drafted from scratch or heavily edited. 3. **Service‑page thinking** – a concise outline (5–7 bullets) of what must be on a high‑quality law‑firm service page for a complex advisory practice. 4. **AI usage** – how you currently use AI in your writing workflow, and what you always do yourself. 5. **Availability** – current weekly hours, time zone, and how soon you can start a 10–20 hr/week trial. Optional but helpful: if you’ve used AI tools in your writing workflow, briefly describe how you use them and where you draw the line between AI and your own judgment. If this sounds like the kind of role and growth path you want, I’d love to hear from you.
