Lead Web Developer Needed: Custom Builds + Site Maintenance & Fixes (General & Custom Web)

We are a growing digital agency partnering with small-to-medium businesses across the country to build high-performance digital experiences. Our clients range from local service providers to growing national brands who need sleek, responsive, and functional websites that convert visitors into customers. As we scale, we are looking for a reliable, go-to Lead Web Developer to handle end-to-end technical execution on an ongoing, project-by-project basis. The Role & Scope of Work We need a versatile developer who can fluidly handle two core types of client needs: 1. Custom Ground-Up Builds: Taking design concepts or wireframes and turning them into clean, fully responsive websites tailored to a business's local or national goals. 2. Site Maintenance, Fixes & Additions: Diving into a client's existing website to troubleshoot bugs, fix broken layouts, optimize page speeds, implement SEO fixes, or build out entirely new features and pages seamlessly into their current codebase. Required Technical Skills General Web Mastery: Expert knowledge of HTML5, CSS3 (including clean layouts and animations), JavaScript (ES6+), and responsive design frameworks. CMS & Platform Versatility: Experience working with standard platforms used by local businesses (such as WordPress, Webflow, or custom stacks). E-Commerce (Secondary Skill): Solid familiarity with platforms like Shopify for clients who need retail or product features integrated into their web presence. Problem Solving & Diagnostics: Strong debugging skills—you must be comfortable auditing an existing, poorly coded site, figuring out why it’s broken, and fixing it cleanly without breaking other elements. Performance & SEO Optimization: Ability to clean up messy code, optimize images, and drastically improve Google PageSpeed Insights scores for better local search ranking. Soft Skills & Communication Reliability: Deadlines are critical for our clients. You must be highly organized and responsive. Problem-Solver Mindset: When a client’s site breaks, you can dive in calmly, diagnose the issue, and explain the fix simply. Clean Code: Everything you build or fix must be well-documented and easy for our agency to manage moving forward.
