Learning Materials Proofreader & QA

Learning Materials Proofreader & QA Remote · Global · Independent Contractor Description Figary is a growing learning and development studio on a mission to make learning feel bold, human, and beautifully crafted. We design people-first learning experiences for hospitality, service, and people-focused brands who want training that actually feels enjoyable to take. We are not a corporate eLearning factory. We do not build dull, click-next courses. We create engaging, scenario-led, visually beautiful learning experiences that feel intentional, thoughtful, and a little unexpected. We’re looking to build a trusted network of experienced Learning Materials Proofreaders & QA Specialists who share our obsession with quality, consistency, and attention to detail. This isn’t a traditional job opening for one specific project. Instead, we’re building a vetted contractor network of exceptional quality reviewers that we can call on as client projects arise. If selected, you’ll become part of our approved Learning Network and receive opportunities to work on a variety of exciting learning and business projects throughout the year. If you’re the type of person who instinctively spots the missing comma, the inconsistent spacing, the typo hiding in plain sight, the slide that feels slightly “off,” or the formatting inconsistency nobody else notices, we’d love to hear from you. Please note: This is a learning materials quality assurance role focused on proofreading, formatting, consistency, and reviewing training materials. It is not a software testing or technical QA position. ⸻ About the Role Quality plays a huge part in everything we create at Figary. From storyboards and eLearning modules to facilitator guides, participant workbooks, PowerPoint presentations, proposals, and internal documents, we believe every piece of work should leave our studio polished, professional, and ready to impress. Most of your time will be spent carefully reviewing learning materials before they reach our clients, ensuring they meet Figary’s exceptionally high standards for accuracy, consistency, usability, readability, and overall learner experience. You’ll work independently using our quality assurance processes and checklists while collaborating with our US-based team whenever clarification is needed. No two projects are exactly alike, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who genuinely enjoys proofreading, refining, and elevating high-quality learning materials. You can expect to: 🔍 Review Learning Materials with Exceptional Attention to Detail * Proofread storyboards, eLearning modules, facilitator guides, learner workbooks, PowerPoint presentations, Word documents, PDFs, and supporting resources * Identify spelling, grammar, punctuation, formatting, consistency, and style issues * Ensure all copy aligns with American English standards * Verify learning content is clear, accurate, and easy to understand * Check that terminology, capitalization, dates, names, and references remain consistent throughout each project ✨ Ensure Every Deliverable Feels Polished * Review layouts, formatting, typography, spacing, alignment, and visual consistency * Ensure slides, documents, and learning materials feel professional and client-ready * Identify opportunities to improve clarity, readability, and learner experience * Help maintain the premium standard our clients expect 🧭 Review Digital Learning Experiences * Review Articulate Rise and Storyline courses before client delivery * Verify navigation, interactions, hyperlinks, learner pathways, and completion settings function as intended * Ensure quizzes, knowledge checks, and assessments work correctly * Confirm the overall learner experience feels smooth, intuitive, and error-free 🤝 Collaborate with Clarity and Confidence * Communicate feedback professionally and constructively * Ask thoughtful questions whenever something seems unclear * Work comfortably with asynchronous feedback from our US-based team * Meet agreed deadlines and communicate proactively 🧠 Champion Quality * Take genuine pride in producing error-free work * Spot inconsistencies others overlook * Follow established QA processes and review checklists * Continuously look for ways to improve quality across projects ⸻ Software you should be comfortable working with Required * Microsoft Word * Microsoft PowerPoint * Adobe Acrobat (PDF review) Nice to have * Articulate Rise * Articulate Storyline ⸻ The ideal Learning Materials Proofreader & QA * Has professional experience proofreading, copy editing, quality reviewing, or reviewing learning materials * Has exceptional written American English (US) skills * Has outstanding attention to detail * Naturally spots inconsistencies, formatting issues, grammar errors, and opportunities for improvement * Enjoys reviewing documents just as much as reviewing digital learning experiences * Communicates clearly and professionally * Works independently with minimal supervision * Takes pride in delivering polished, high-quality work * Thrives with structure, clarity, and high standards Nice to have * Instructional Design experience * Learning & Development experience * Hospitality industry experience * Experience reviewing storyboards * Experience reviewing eLearning content * Familiarity with accessibility standards * Experience reviewing websites or digital products * Experience using review and collaboration tools If you’re someone who genuinely enjoys finding the tiny things everyone else misses, you’ll fit right in. ⸻ This role is NOT for you if… * You’re looking for software QA or application testing work * You regularly miss small details or rush through reviews * You see proofreading as simply checking spelling * You become frustrated by repetitive review work * You struggle to provide constructive feedback professionally * You prefer fast-paced production work over careful quality checking * You dislike working to documented standards and processes We’re looking for people who genuinely care about quality because we believe the little things create extraordinary learning experiences. ⸻ Be who you are with us! Figary is committed to building an inclusive, supportive, and joyful working culture grounded in our core values of Community, Inspiration, and Fun. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds and lived experiences. If this role excites you—even if you don’t meet every single requirement—we encourage you to apply. Our goal is to make every step of the process friendly, transparent, respectful of your time, and refreshingly human. ⸻ Attention to detail matters here. Here’s a small challenge to show us you’ve carefully read this job description. Please include the word “pineapple” somewhere in your application. 🍍
