Learning Simulation Designer — Cognitive & Systems Thinking
Worldwide
We are building interactive learning simulations using VR, AI characters, environmental observation, and decision-making. We are looking for someone who can do more than create activities or write instructional content. The key skill we need is the ability to look at a simulation and ask: - What does the learner actually need to notice? - What must they infer from what they observe? - How should new evidence change their understanding? - How does that new understanding change the decision they make? - How can the environment or characters respond so the learner sees the consequence of their reasoning? For example, we do not want: Find an object → unlock dialogue → choose the correct answer. We want designs closer to: Observe evidence → derive what it means → update your understanding of the situation → predict another character's behaviour → make a decision → see the consequence. Our simulations may include several AI/NPC characters with different goals, limited resources, incomplete information, competing incentives, and dependencies between their decisions. You should be comfortable thinking about: - simulation-based learning - cognitive task analysis - metacognition - systems thinking - decision-making - game mechanics and incentives - scenario and NPC design - evidence-based reasoning - consequences and feedback loops You do not need to be a VR developer. We are primarily hiring for learning and simulation thinking. A strong candidate should be able to identify when a scenario looks interactive but is cognitively too simple, and then redesign it so that the learner must genuinely observe, reason, revise their understanding, and act. Please complete the short test question below when applying.
